This hotel is across the albergue. I paid 48 € since I was tired and was glad I found a place. However the rooms are loud, the toilet is the smallest I have ever used. (Finally some good privacy and still you can’t take a decent dump). There is no washing service available and washing yourself leaves you with wet clothes since there are no radiators. Only good if you are a tiny bummed tourist instead of a pilgrim.

Highlights: bilingual , friendly and efficient service at the front desk during regular hours and the rooms we had were modern chic and -during the searing heatwave a very welcome relief- airconditioned! It's located next to the famous bridge that makes going to the town's historical center easy and accessible. We didn't stay for breakfast but overall we were thrilled with our short stay.

Arrived at hotel 1.30pm told to wait for 1 and 1/2 hours as rooms not ready till 3pm. Not offered even a drink of water or direction to a cafe. Told to wait in a chair....no sympathy or even a helping hand. Not a good welcome to first night in portugal.

My room was in a building almost opposite the hotel and accessed with a security card. There was a lift. The bedroom is Spartan and small with a luggage rack with hangers and no wardrobe. The bathroom was ultra modern as was the lighting. I never got the hang of the lights which didn't always work and would go off in the bathroom. There are no ceiling lights and the bathroom lights are not effective. The shower had two shower heads but they sprayed into the toilet area through lack of space. The bed was firm with decent pillows. The door of the bedroom is not insulated and as the stairs are concrete you could hear everything amplified. A clock outside chimes the hour until 10pm and from 7am. Earplugs are needed. In the morning the street cleaners wake you up, talking and singing under your window, ask for a room looking over the river. Breakfast is back in the main building and was very good.
The location is also good but on the opposite side of the bridge to the town and my half board restaurant for supper was too far from the accommodation, across the bridge and then some! There is a restaurant next door which is expensive but looks inviting and surely Arc'otel could come to an arrangement to have a cheaper pilgrim's menu there for those staying next door. There's not a great deal to see in Ponte de Lima that can't be seen in a couple of hours. The Camino passes by the hotel if you are doing the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
