Stayed two nights with a group of friends. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Arrived at 7am so they kindly showed us a breakfast place near the hotel. They also ton our luggage in storage until we world return.
The rooms were clean and decent. Nothing special but fine all in all. Location is great and the breakfast was good. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Firstly, although this hotel is listed as 5 star it isn't. The staff are very nice and really helpful and the location is fabulous, there are too many little things that knock the hotel down. The restaurant is closed in the evening, the air conditioning (in my room anyway) wasn't working which the hotel clearly knew about because they had provided a large fan and there were a lot of small repairs that need attending to like the missing light bulbs.
Having said that breakfast was good and it would be hard to beat the location; it is right at the centre of the city and close to everything including a nice selection of restaurants and a lovely little market.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are quite noisy due to the number of bars and restaurants near by but go with the flow and enjoy them and its fine.

Our visit to Riga was very enjoyable but our accomodation in Royal Square Hotel & Suites was terrible. Our reservation was June 23 to 26.

We had booked two rooms for four persons. The air temperature was 28-32C. Air conditioning was not working in our room and 60% of the rooms in the hotel and room temperature was 26-28C. Nobody did not know how to fix it. The staff explains the incredible reasons. Eventually, we moved to a small suite. In suite's other room the air conditioning was not working. Room temperature was 26.6 to 27.5C. The situation was agonizing.

We did not get any compensation. We will not return to the hotel and we recommend Royal Square Hotel & Suites to anyone.

Room Tip: Air conditioning was not working and rooms were very hot.

The location is great, right on the main square. We were overlooking Egle Bar which can be noisy throughout the day and night but a great atmosphere.
Took us 20 mins before we even got spoken to at check in, it was very rude. Then they said the restaurant was closed for refurbishment but how come we ate breakfast in the restaurant each morning?!
Breakfast was poor, the absolute bare minimum. Small rooms and not cleaned for the 3 days we were there.
Great location but we wouldn't stay there again.

We stayed at the hotell for a long weekend. 1.floor with a view to the square. Surprisingly not too noisy. The room was nice and clean, and a short walk from most sights. The staff was friendly, and the advice we got for sights and restaurants were okay, but very standard.

The breakfast contained a good range of choices, but for my taste, a more Latvian selection of foods, rather than italian mozarella salad, would be more interesting. The only thing to complain about was the espresso machine, which used ages to brew one cup of coffee, and often needed refill of water or beans, so people had to queue up. I'd rather choose a cup of filter coffee from a jug. It could also be nice to have a possibility to make a cup of instant coffee in the reception or in our room.

Room Tip: Not too much noise from the street/square
