We visited here with our extended family for our final night in Vilnius and were keen to have traditional foods before we left. In terms of traditional dishes there was not a huge variety but what we had was good. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very homely.

Booked on a Friday night for a group of 13 including a baby. My fears began when we arrived at 8pm and the place was dead. Barely 2 or 3 tables occupied yet everywhere else in the old town was full. Service was terrible: we had to keep asking for everything all the time like more drinks, take the food order please. All of our guests arrived by 8:30 and only 2 of them ordered a starter: it took an age to arrive. Meanwhile we ordered a small dish of mash potato for the baby. By 10pm no sign of main courses or the baby's mash. Excuse by staff is that they had to wait until the starter was cleared but that had been done quickly. By this point I counted only 8 other diners in so not exactly a stretched kitchen. Food arrived warm. One well done steak was rare and fatty. The veal was small and side garnish about 2 potatoes and a sprinkling of courgette. Too late for the hungry baby so we asked them to call a cab to our hotel. In the taxi the driver said he'd never heard of the place before....

I had dinner here. It was alright. Food was served barely warm (I like food to be served hot). The potatoes were just ok - rather tasteless. I had beef stroganoff which was just ok. I did have a delicious dessert, though, so the meal wasn't a complete disappointment.

The service was excellent and the staff was friendly.

The restaurant looks smaller from the outside than it really is. It is quite deep with a courtyard in back. Nice old world furnishings. Food is excellent. We can recommend the gravlax salad and the mushroom soup served in a bread is a meal in itself. The staff speaks English and the pleasant low-volume music adds to the charm.
