Came in 45min before closing time as we had a busy schedule all day. The ticket office was closed already and we were told we won’t be able to see everything. We were well aware of that but it was the last day in the country and that was the only way to do it. The security was kind enough let us in to look at the ground floor exhibits. Suddenly the lights were shutting down 10 minutes later and we were made feel very uncomfortable and left at 17:35. As we were leaving the women who work there were complaining about us still being there and they were out through the door even before we left.
Exhibits on the ground floor looked crusty, shrunken and deformed. Not well maintained.
Disappointed experience and waste of time.

Much better than when I have visited in the past! The information is now also in English, everything is well lit and looks well maintained. The general theme of the museum is still traditional, but the expositions are very well made. This is a very good place to bring children that are interested in wildlife, and if you as a parent are interested as well – this place can keep you entertained for a long time. And the entrance fee is a bargain.
Technically, you are supposed to start from the third floor, but you are free to roam as you like. Unless the strict ladies correct you, that is

From the outside of the building you would never know the wonders of the taxidermy within... All the exhibits are set in minimal ,clean looking Diarama's
Very good

A very interesting museum. A lot to look at. Would recommend it for families and people who generally are interested in wildlife.

Big and interesting museum on Aisves Aleja, in the city centre. We paid the cheap entry tickets and we spent a couple of hours in the museum. Nobody spoke any English but we enjoyed the visit. There is a big collection of mammals, fishes, butterflies and animals from all over the world. The museum is in a 3 floors building, it is big. There's also a souvenir shop at the entrance. We think it deserves a visit. Recommended!!!

This place seems to double as a zoological museum, displaying specimens of various animals, most via taxidermy. It has a pretty good scientific base, although the top floor seems to be primarily a display of the taxidermy awards the museum has received. It has excellent collections of butterflies, insects and sea shells. I suspect that young children would really enjoy this place because it is uncomplicated. The admission is very modest and so it is certainly affordable.

Very traditional museum where they have good items on display, but you only walk around and look at them. On the other hand, a great place to take your vegetarian friends if you are running out of things to talk about. May I suggest dinner at the nearby Hunter’s lodge restaurant afterwards?

Great thing how one person can be interested in so many things and collect it all throughout his whole life. Eventhough museum's walls are still reminding soviet union times and everything is old there, museum is beautiful and interesting to see
