Well I can go on and on about this restaurant. Best thing I can say is to make sure you visit this place.
Here is a tip, make reservation otherwise you will be hard pressed to find a table. Other thing is that they are closed Sunday.
So this is our run down. While we love wine, we know next to nothing about Hungarian wine. Instead of risking it and buying a bottle we asked our waiter to pair up each dish with a wine of his choosing that would go well. He hit high notes in each pairing. I have added a photo of the handwritten list of wines we were give.
So here is the deal. Both my wife and I started with a glass of sparkling rose, had four courses and beautifully paired wines with each course. The total bill came to be 14,228 forint. We decided to throw in an additional 10,000 forint because our wait staff deserved it. We could easily have paid over $500 for the quality of the meal and wine.
Here is what we had. I have included photos of our courses.
Natural fois gras
Hungarian sausage ragu type appetizer.
Taste of duck with potato ravioli
Venison stroganoff with duck fois gras
Walnut sponge cake
Nightly special ganache with honey candy ala mode.
Wines were AMAZING!!!
