Description: Do you know what Vakvarjú is? If you have ever tried a finely crisped bread dough with a lacy brim directly served from the oven, you must have tasted "vakvarjú”, the original fried bread dough of Hungary . This is the name of the simple, but even more delicious traditional dish of Hungary, of which you could try many variations in our restaurant. If you prefer other specialties, you are also warmly welcomed. You can choose any of our delicacies from the menu. Would you like to taste homemade dishes? Our cooks are just preparing appetizing savories in the kitchen. Believe us, all are worth trying!

We went to VakVarju to get Lunch, we had this recomended by family who lives in Hungary. We were very pleased with the food, it was a fresh modern take on Hungarian Food and the service was very friendly and nice. We would definately eat here again next time we go to Hungary.

We got the Roasted duck liver slices with port wine-sour cherry ragout and apple-potato gratin for 4 900 HUF
And the Traditional oven-baked bread dough of Hungary
With sour cream base (smoked ham, sausage, bacon, corn, red onion, cheese) for 1850 HUF - very nice!

We went to eat pretty late in the afternoon , the restaurant was open and received us really well, the food is good and tasty. The price is really correct 2 dishes 1 beer and water for around 22€ and we are a bit full and happy :) the decorations are nice and the background music is modern jazz style and a bit of electro swing. Really cool

We were there on a Sunday late afternoon in March and got a table without having booked. I would recommend making a booking to avoid disappointment
Unusual, dramatic decor as you walk in depicting how it would have been historically.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere and although busy, it wasn't noisy. We ordered different starters than all chose the duck with pasta and cabbage and lavender jelly. This was recommended to us by our Hungarian hosts. It was de-licious! Also had Langosh for sharing (similar to pizza, but much better!). Excellent Red and white wines with our meal. Too full for sweet.
Service was great. Speedy, polite, attentive.
About £80.00 total for 4 Adults.
Excellent value.
So many nice things on the menu that we promised ourselves we would return. Sadly ran out of time on this visit. Will go next time for sure.

We had an amazing honey roasted duck and a venison dish with dumplings! What an explosion of flavours! We also had a medium-bodied Hingarian wine which was 5*. I would recommend this restaurant!

It is a very nice restaurant located in the city centre. We had a nice lunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and not very posh. The food was great. I experimented with the cheddar cheese soup but found it too "exotic" for my taste. My husband chicken soup was great. The main courses: duck breast and tenderloin were really delicious. I couldnt finish my meal and the waiter offered to pack which was really nice. If you are looking for a more elegant atmosphere then check out the Vigvarju which is from the same restaurant chain. It is located inside the Vigado and is much more elegant. The menu is pretty much the same.
