“Old fashioned but comfortable”
Reviewed 26 April 2012

We make regular trips to visit our son, we always stay at the Best Western Grand Hungaria as we find it comfortable and warm, our visits are usually during the winter months. The hotel resteraunt serves very good evening meals at excellent prices and the breakfast offers a very good choice. The only thing I would like to see improved are the bathrooms, the shower is always over the bath not good for the older user, and beware the hot water, obviously no anti scald devices fitted. Hotel is very good for buses just outside, and station five minutes walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the hotel frontage and road noise

We stayed here for 4 nights.
Location is very good and food in hotel is great.
Breakfast they serve is matchless, rich, varied and tasty.

If you are used to staying in contemporary hotels, do not stay here. To begin with, the beds are tiny, very low to the floor, and very barracks-looking. Not comfortable at all. My shower was basically a small area within the bathroom - no tub. The curtain did not reach the floor so the entire bathroom got wet after running the shower. Towels are old and worn. The hairdryer was in a small open closet in the hallway of the room, and you had to hold the "on" button to run it. TV was a teeny tiny old set, and if you are looking for something in English on TV, you will not find anything. Staff does not seem very friendly. Location does not seem very safe. As my headline says, this hotel is not for everyone. If you are looking for spartan accommodations, then this may work for you.

Room Tip: I was at the back of the hotel so it was quiet.

I have to disagree with a fellow's review - Location sucks. True, it is 5 minutes walk to Metro and train stations, but that is the only high point! Situated in a mostly run down neibhorhood, with nothing to recommend it other than its proximity to a Metro line.
Hotel is ok: ok breakfast, ok service, ok cleanliness.
Rooms are cramped and not well designed, shower the worst - misrable water pressure, in a very narrow, unfriendly tub.
Reception staff was always helpful and accomodating.
Breakfast: we were there while many teen groups (schools?) were staying over. That meant that not much food (literarly) was left if you choose to eat after them.
All in all, an ok 3 stars hotel. 4 stars? No Way.

Room Tip: Facing inner yard - less noise. (Nothing to see street-ward). Beware of the paid TV channels, and i...
