“This Must Be The Best Holiday Let In Piran”

This appartment is fantasticly located right on the main square. It is clean and well equipped. The owner was helpful and very prompt in replying to any queries. We had simply the best holiday.

Right outside the apparment is the best ice cream we could find in Slovenia and there is a lot of good ice cream here. The town is a maze of alleys and little squares and a delight to explore. Be aware that there is no parking in the town and you have to leave your car in a large multi storey car park on the edge of town at a cost of 60 Euros a week. A free courtesy bus is supplied to take you in to the town and back again.

One day we had breakfast in Piran, Slovenia, lunch in Umag,Croatia and tea in Tireste, Italy. A round trip of 65 miles. We did it because we could, coming from England this is the sort of thing we don't get the opportunity to do very often.

We had to pick up the keys from a local tourist bureau. The guy who dealt with us seemed very indifferent. He did the necessary but was not at all welcoming, so what we had a hell of a time. We only saw him twice, once to pick up the key and once to drop back. We were told in advance that the tourist bureau would be shut from 1pm to 4pm which gave us time to go to the supermarket on the way.

I would thoroughly recommend, Slovenia, Piran and the Appartment Marciana.

“PIRAN: Room with a View and MORE”

Prian: A ROOM WITH A VIEW AND MORE

On a recent trip to Piran, Slovenia, we rented an apartment (the Marciana) for two weeks overlooking the town's central piazza, Tartini Square, the town's traffic-free main piazza If there is a better located apartment in Piran, I'd like someone to point it out to me. Once you open your window you are dazzled by the colorful buildings: shades of red, soft greens, yellows and pink, eclectic and yet harmonious all at the same time. Venetian-inspired houses share the same space with elegant baroque and colonnaded government buildings allowing you one of those "Wow" moments. In the morning we awoke to look out over the square from our living room window as the city awoke and the cafes set up for breakfast. In the afternoon, children played and al fresco diners enjoyed the lovely square and weather, and with the advent of the evening, music was being performed as couples danced under the stars. You walk out the apartment door right onto Tartini Square with an abundance of cafes and restaurants at your finger tips. And with the town's only ATM on the ground floor of your rental, how convenient is that!? But once inside the apartment there was peace and quiet, abetted by double-paned windows. And the Marciana was only a five-minute walk to the town's many sunning and swimming options on the Adriatic.

The apartment was very generously sized: a large master bedroom which overlooked a quiet side street, a smaller bedroom with twin beds, a lovely fully-equipped kitchen with dining table, large living room and excellent bath. There was even a washing machine with access to a roof clothes line. A cleaning service arrived at the end of the first week and did an outstanding job freshening up. All rooms had windows offering beautiful light. The appointments of the apartment were exceptional: from lighted niches displaying flowers to dramatic living room lighting with a large TV (smaller one in the bedroom). But who wants to watch TV in this lovely Adriatic community, but in case you do, CNN came in, loud and clear.
Prior to our arrival we had exchanged several engaging emails with Drago, its owner, who not only was extremely helpful but exhibited a sense of humor and enthusiasm which is most helpful and appreciated in any language. If you want that "room with a view" overlooking Tartini Square in one of the most beautiful, charming, and out of the way Slovenian towns, look no further. The Marciana apartment should be your place of choice!
