Have just returned after having a fantastic week staying in the Alpine Retreat. The Farmhouse was exactly as described, well furnished and more than adequate for all our family needs (two teenagers). It is also in a lovely setting with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains. We were welcomed at the property by Uros on arrival, he was very friendly and answered all our questions. The Farmhouse was easy to get to from the airport, we had a hire car, which we would advise as the places to visit are endless. The supermarket is within walking distance, a pizzeria up the hill which is very reasonable and a restaurant/bar just down the road. I am a vegetarian and wasn't expecting the food to be wonderful but as we were self catering I managed quite adequately. When we did eat out the prices were reasonable and the portions more than adequate. (ice creams 1 euro, large pizzas 6 euros, large mixed grill 10 euros).

During our stay we visited:
Lake Bled (on your doorstep) for swimming, walking, castle, chair lift and toboggan rides. Recommend parking behind the horse carriage base where it is only 2.5 euros for the whole day.
Lake Bohinj - hired a boat on the lake and also took a gondula ride up the mountain and walked up the top (well worth doing).
Vintgar Gorge - walked from the farmhouse - fantastic,
Pokljuka Gorge - another amazing walk,
Kranjska Gora - took two chair lifts high into the mountains (breathtaking) and walked up the top,
Ljubljana - had a short visit on the way back to the airport.

Overall we had a wonderful holiday, superb weather, lovely accommodation, beautiful scenery at every corner but not enough time to do everthing that we wanted to do. Would love to return to see the scenery in winter. I would highly recommend this accommodation and area.

The area is was spotless did not see any traces of litter.
The inventory provided at the farmhouse included walkers guides, maps and recommended places to visit which proved invaluable.

“Fabulous base for a holiday in a spectacular place”
Reviewed 10 July 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Brilliant holiday at Zasip near Bled in Slovenia. The house was great and had everything you needed. We had 5 adults, whcih included our 3 kids in their twenties. Everyone thought it was an amazing holiday and are all advising friends to go. The area is spectacularly beautiful. Fabulous walks straight from the house. We went down to the coast, into the capital and up to the mountains. Easy trips on very good roads. Really recommend this holiday.

“GREAT ... SIMPLE AS THAT”
Reviewed 26 June 2011 for a stay in May 2011

Stayed here in early May with wife & in-laws. Let's get the minor negatives out of the way: (1) The cottage is around 3km from the lake and main tourist area and I didn't notice any public transport so you pretty much need your own wheels to get around (2) I could have done without the church bells - church is next door - summoning the faithful at 6am on a Sunday morning!

Other than that, this property was perfect for us. The owner's description is accurate. The cottage is huge and could easily accommodate 6 adults. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay is provided. There is an excellent well stocked library of DVDs, CDs and books. Especially useful are the books on the local area: not just the usual Lonely Planet, Rough guide but also a host of 'local' (English) books about the area, many of which offer suggested walks, etc.

In addition to the above, the local agent (Juros) is friendly and helpful.

It was a real shame to leave and we hope to return to The Alpine Cottage soon.
