We attended and where charged an admission which the sign in English stated included the chair lift

There was an event on and it turned out the chair lift was for the event only

When I asked why it was closed the rude woman on the ticket office pointed to a sign in polish saying there's an completion on so no access

When I asked why the English sign was still up she got annoyed and started shouting on polish

Feel very let down and ripped off

Wielka Krokiew is an iconic Zakopane sight, and you don't have to visit it in winter to appreciate it. I have enclosed a photo of Pilsudskiego Street, a beautiful wide street leading to the Krokiew. A lovely walk.

Wielka Krokiew is the biggest and most famous ski jumping hill in Poland. Stage to many international competitions, especially at the end of january each year, when FIS World Cup tournament takes place in Zakopane. Every time we are in Zakopane we got that impression, that Wielka Krokiew is undergoing refurbishement, there's always some construction work going on. In august 2016 we were walkin on black trail called Droga Pod Reglami, which passes by the entrance to the jumping hill (or hills, as there's about four of them alltogether). And we found out that Krokiew can be visited whole year round (appart from competitions). Didn't go visiting this time, but we learned, that after purchasing a ticket you can go nearly to the top of the ski jumping hill by the chair lift, and you can enjoy a large panorama from there. Definitelly will try it next time.

Something that not everyone knows but worth a visit, not on a travel guide for some reason but it is on a map. nice cable car service that takes a photo that you can buy if you wish (no pressure). Really puts in to perspective how high ski jumpers jump, recommended.

You cannot imagine how steep and how big this slope is unless you visit it and just imagine how frightening it must be for someone to jump off this. When you stand near the base of this you think it would be crazy to jump off it. We saw this as my daughter went skiing on a nursery slope that was right next door to this. It is a short taxi drive from the centre (about £4) but well worth looking at it. Unfortunately for us nobody was jumping at the time but there is a competition coming up in the next month or so, so imagine a lot more practice sessions will be happening soon.
