Just back from Krackow, we stayed in Hotel Kossak from March 15th to March 17th and cant recommend this Hotel highly enough! The standard of this four star hotel feels more like five star. Location is great, ten minute walk into main square with all its fabuloul bars and restaurants. The cleanliness of hotel is superb. We had rooms overlooking the castle so would suggest asking for castle view. The terrace resturant is fabulous, views to die for and a very cool vibe. Breakfast was good a hugh selection to suit all tastes. While there we ate at Taco Mexican on one of the nights in the old town, get a taxi there(8slz) and stroll back, if you like Mexican food you'll love this place, ridiculously cheap, 35 euro for three starters, mains and drinks! Also Jazz club, just down a side street off main square is a cool way to relax and unwind. Done Auswithch trip 60slz booked at hotel reception, english speaking tour , pick up and drop off just across the road from hotel. All in all a very positive experience from Krackow and Hoel Kossak. Go there, stay there, you wont regret it!

Completely agree with the previous positive reviews. Warm friendly hotel enjoyed by ourselves & four friends. Good breakfast, first class restaurant, very helpful friendly staff, good location. I think I will return to Krakow one day & without doubt stay at the Hotel Kossak.

we stayed at the kossack for 4 nights from 12th to the 15th of march and what a wonderfull experience from beginning to end in every way, room facing the castle no 410 with breathtaking views also the cleanest and most comfortable room we have ever had in a hotel anywhere.
the rooftop restuarant is awsome views and the food and staff superb.
did all the trips camps, mine, etc with poland shuttle, top class service and guide's.

i was positive before arriving that even after reading all the excellent reviews that i would find something wrong but found everything about the hotel and all the staff to be top notch solid gold.

as a matter of interest even all the toilets at the camps and down the salt mine were sparkling clean, all in all a fantastic trip.

Room Tip: ask for castle view room.

Having read the trip advisor reviews, my son and i stayed at the Kossak Hotel between 12 to 15 March and very impressed with their service. Spotless throughout and very comfortable, the staff were also very pleasant and helpful. Ideal location, 10 minutes walk to the main centre and only 5 minutes to the castle/cathedral. Ask for a 'river view' - stunning scenery as the sun rises above the castle. Excellent value for money but shop around for best deals. Food and drink at nearby restaurants also excellent value especially Pod Baranem near Wawel castle on Gertrudy street - the complimentary smalec with bread very tasty prior to a very nice steak. We used Krakow Shuttle (found it on the internet and booked prior to departing) for both the airport run (PLN70 @£14 each trip about 25 mins from/to the airport to/from the hotel) and for our trips to Auschwitz (PLN268 @£26/person for 2 including snack bag, 'English' guided tour to Auschwitz I and II (Birkenau) + a movie in the mini bus @1 hour 20 mins from hotel door to site) and the Wieliczka Salt Mine (PLN258) both trips were excellent and smack on time for departures - strongly recommended and would use again.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view

My wife and I stayed at the Kossak Hotel between 6th and 9th March. We requested a room with a view of the river and castle and for PLN100 per night (about£20) it was worth every penny. The view was magnificent. The room was clean and very comfortable. The double bed was huge. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean and the shower was powerful and water temperature constant. The mini bar was amply stocked and at very reasonable prices and this is from someone who usually avoids mini bars like the plague! Breakfast was plentiful and everything was fresh. I wasn't too keen on the scrambled eggs and sausages. Let me add that there was nothing whatsoever wrong with them but they were just not to my taste. My wife on the other hand found them to be very tasty. However you can order from a separate menu which I did and ordered poached eggs which were absolutely delicious together with the fresh smoked salmon. Tea/coffee many juices, fresh fruit, yoghurts and fresh pastries made up the rest of the great breakfast selection.
We dined twice in the Orangerie restaurant on the 7th floor and the food was absolutely delicious. The prices are ridiculously inexpensive, for example we had aperitif, starter, main course and dessert with a decent bottle of wine and coffee for under £60 for the both of us. The view is terrific so ask for a window table when dining or if you go in the summer ask for a table out on the balcony. The staff were friendly and very professional and we think a special mention should be made to the Head Waiter, Isabela who looked after us on our second night she was fantatstic and is a credit to the hotel.
The hotel is perfectly situated for the castle and it is a short and pleasant walk to the old city. It is slightly further to the Jewish quarter but again is very pleasant and plenty to see on the way.
We booked our tickets for a visit to both Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wiekiezka Salt Mines at the main reception desk and the pick-up point for both tours is opposite the hotel.
We had a fantastic time and when we return to Krakow we will make sure that we stay at this lovely hotel.
Thank You.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river/castle view. You may get lucky and get one for free but if not it is wel...
