Wish I'd have read some of these reviews before I went to Prague!
Like many tourists before me, I was lured in by Karlovy Lazne's five floors and built in ice bar. First impressions were great; the "oldies" floor was playing Motown all night, light up dance floor, reasonable drinks - we were in our element. The night was soon marred when I noticed a woman (previously witnessed being matey with bar staff and 'crawl with me' organisers) with her hands in my bag - which had disappeared under a pile of coats. I grabbed her as she made a run for it but she managed to fight me off. Bar staff were uninterested (initially refusing to call the manager) and the 'crawl with me' organiser could barely mask a smirk as I asked for help and advice. No one could get reception to call the police and bar staff refused to call them.
Ten minutes later, the woman was back! Bold as brass! We confronted her about the theft but she denied all accusations, presenting us with a completely empty bag as "proof". We asked bar staff to go over cctv, but our requests were ignored. I was incredibly upset at this point - I HAD SEEN THIS WOMAN STEAL MY PURSE WITH MY OWN TWO EYES. I pleaded that she just return a sentimental photo of my nan, to which she replied "English @!#*" and walked away.
As we left this woman was witnessed laughing and joking with security staff, who have been reviewed by others unfortunate enough to set foot in this place. It is my opinion (Czech police have agreed) that the petty theft crimes reported here by tourists are highly organised and involve staff. My advice would be to stay away!
