“A great place with vibe and flavour”
Reviewed 5 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is a very special accommodation. The idea was to place two wood/canvas/mesh holiday cabins on a little terrace on a steep slope of a ravine, overlooking a picturesque river, with forested hills right in front of one's eyes. So you have a great combination tent-cabin feeling. If it rains, the sound of rain on the canvas is great. You can roll up the canvas and have just a mesh front wall, or you can roll down for privacy and against elements.

The two cabins are close to each other (about 10 m). You do get sufficient visual privacy (solid fence, vegetation) but if you happen to have noisy neighbours and you value silence and seclusion then the canvas walls are obviously not too soundproof. We did not have any problem since for a few days we were there alone and then we had a very quiet and considerate young couple next door - but this is something to consider.

We found our yurt very well equipped and very clean. There is a well- equipped kitchen (in fact, shares space with the day "room") and a separate bathroom sink in the bedroom. The toilet and shower are right OUTSIDE of the yurt, arranged as small fenced-off, and semi-open-air cabins (the WC has a roof, the shower just the canopy and clear skies :) We really enjoyed this and taking a warm shower in just-a-little-bit-less-warm rain was a great experience.

We liked the way it was designed inside: all wood and some canvas (e.g. canvas hanging shelves). There is no TV and no air condition (there's a fan) - but then the whole idea is to have "comfort camping", not resort-hotel experience :). And the yurts are shaded by surrounding vegetation. And in mid-late September the temperatures were great.

You access the yurts by stepping down the ravine (they sit about 1/3 way down), so it may rather not be a good place for mobility-impaired visitors. The car can be parked (free) on top of the ravine, next to the owners' house.

You can do laundry (free, with your own detergent) so no need to pack much :)

There is a splendid terrace sheltered by a canvas tent in front of each of the yurts - great to eat outdoors (no real big table or chairs inside) or just sit and enjoy the almost pristine (you just see a section of a powerline) view on the hills. You can step down to the bottom of the ravine by steep concrete steps (with no hand railing, so watch for small kids!) and enjoy wonderful bathing/swimming in the river which, in this place, forms a pool/pond with slow-flowing water. The bank there is steep and rocky and the water quite deep right away, so not a good idea for someone who can't swim or just wants to wade in the water. A small plastic boat at your disposal can however take you across, where there's a small sandy beach.

The area is very calm and safe, the yurts sit in a far, secluded corner of a small and walled-off residential complex, in which the owners also live. The nearby airbase in Travo did not turn out to be a nuisance although at times we did hear helicopters or planes. Travo is a small and quiet modern village, there's a mid-size supermarket close by and other ones in nearby larger communities (Ghisonaccia, Solenzara).

Some very fine beaches (wide and quite wild, i.e. without bars or other infrastructure - the way we like) are within a short driving distance. Also it's quite close to the great massif of Bavella or (bit further but still ok for a day outing) to Bonifaccio.

The owners are very nice and accommodating, be prepared to rather speak French :)

Overall, it's one of these places that you dont' consider as just good for sleeping but also may want to just spend hours (or days) at a lazy pace, sitting on the terrace, sipping wine, reading or doing nothing - which in my vocabulary is a compliment :)

“Very nice rural retreat”
Reviewed 21 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We loved our holiday in one of the two cottages. Kind and helpful hosts and very nice and comfortable lodging. The steps down to the river were very steep and quite fine for young people. We brought our two dogs, but the owners were not very happy about this. Possibly a misunderstanding, but I thought the place was dog-friendly. The table outside with attached prefab seats was not very comfortable to sit at and one or two comfortable normal dining chairs would be a good idea. The website doesn't clearly show that a second lodge is near the one shown. The site gives the impression that you are all by yourselves at the foot of the (absolutely gorgeous) river. As it was, we accepted this and had a lovely holiday.

Liked best: Gorgeous view, the simple life
Liked least: Very steep descent and access to the river and the disappointment about the dogs not really being welcome.
