My wife and I just returned from a wonderful ten-day stay at Villa Rose des Cayes. This was our first visit to this property and we felt that descriptions and pictures at Trip Advisor, VRBO etc are all very representative of the property and there were only upside surprises. The house was just perfect for us because:
The owner, Joe is a delight. We arrived on the island a couple of hours earlier than expected as St Bart’s Commuter seemed to be willing to dispatch a plane for the short (exciting) ride from St Maarten whenever they had passengers ready to go. As soon as Joe learned that we had arrived he quickly came to the airport and graciously led us to the house (a rental car is essential), showed us around and offered all sort of valuable advice for our stay. We had a previous reservation to stay at Villa Rose des Cayes and had to cancel about a month before our scheduled arrival. Joe could have not been more reasonable and quite frankly generous, in the way he dealt with that situation.
The house is only a couple of years old, is cleverly designed, meticulously maintained and spotlessly clean. We felt very comfortable and private using the sunning areas and the exquisite plunge pool. A dedicated parking area is just steps from the from the front door. There is excellent maid service every day except Sunday and although we never saw her we always returned at the end of the day to a made bed, fresh linens, and a clean, orderly house.
I’m an early riser and my wife loves to sleep in, particularly when we are on vacation. That made it easy for me to slip out of the airconditioned bedroom (with a very comfortable king bed) and amuse myself in the kitchen/great room with multiple options for morning coffee, a solid Wi-Fi internet connection and satellite TV.
There is a very well-equipped kitchen and a serious gas grill that along with proximity to the well-stocked grocery at St Jean (across from the airport) makes meals at home an excellent possibility. A clothes washer (line dry) gave us the option to not bring as many clothes as we might have needed had we been staying at a hotel. There are beach towels and chairs provided for your use. A small safe is in the utility room.
Villa Rose des Cayes is just about equidistant from the shopping/restaurants of St Jean and Gustavia, approximately a 5-minute drive to either. Parking can be a challenge, but in St Jean we always seemed to be able to find a spot at the free public lot across from Tom Beach Hotel (La Plage, their beachside restaurant is a delight) or at the parking lot across from Le Piment (great for roadside after-beach beers, tapas or burgers) at the traffic circle at the other end of the beach (also free). In Gustavia we used the pay lot (free for first 30 minutes) on your right as you enter town, just past the ferry landing and across from the grocery and the high-end shops (Hermes, Louis Vuiton, ect).
Villa Rose des Cayes is a GREAT options for couples coming to St Barts !
Found Rose des Cayes while looking for a more affordable place to stay in St. Barth. What luck! A beautiful place with just enough room for two people with everything you need. Pool and patio area was perfect. Very private even with neighbors very close. Location is great as it is close to St. John and Gustavia. Joe was very helpful and easy to work with prior to arrival. So looking forward to booking our return trip!
