we usually hate boring museum displays but the volunteers make this a memorable experience. Great stories about ship wrecks, the lighthouse and many surprises to find. The locals should be highly commended.

With a small island, this museum was surprisingly well cared for and very good. Well set out with themed room and bursting with local history. The only lack was information about any original aboriginal inhabitants to the island in particular. Good tour guide who was more than happy to talk about the island and it’s history. Well worth the $8. Make sure you check the open times.

Dale kindly opened the museum for our group of 14 despite being closed for winter. The collection in this museum is fascinating, interesting and well presented. Definitely worth a visit.

On a clff top overlooking Currie Harbour, the museum is a detailed historic artifacts collection well laid out and fully described - as well as the history of key people and their achievements - to trace the events and times of King Island.
The outside displays leading to the nearby Currie lighthouse enable tourists to drink in the unique history of King Island and to 'taste ', 'smell' and 'feel' the tragedies and triumphs of its inhabitants over more than 160 years.
The King Island Historical Museum and its attendants provide a moving experience of the hard times and triumphs of the early settlers that has made King Island unique.
