Just returned from a two night stay in the ferrycarrig hotel with my husband and two small children. What a great hotel. I had upgraded to a balcony room which was just fantastic and lovely view of the lake.
Our 7 year old went to the kids club both evenings and loved it.
Breakfast was great Buffett style.
Great staff so friendly and a big thank you to Laura in the kids club for being so great with my daughter.
On departing this morning there were balloons for the kids which really made them happy.
Would highly recommend this hotel so family friendly and can't wait to go back.
Well done ferrycarrig you won our hearts.

Just back from the Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford, and would thoroughly recommend it in terms of food and service, it was first class. The leisure industry is all about making the guests feel welcome and the Ferrycarrig Hotel wins hands down - top marks for service. Many hotels in Ireland could learn a thing or two from this hotel regarding the professional and courteous service which was extended to us from all categories of staff. We opted for the Escape Break which consisted 3 B&B and 3 dinners and it was very good value, the food was excellent. We decided to pay a little extra for the Superior Double room with balcony and we were glad we did as the views over the river Slaney were fabulous. This hotel is very family friendly, we noticed there was entertainment laid on every day for children. Not having young children ourselves, we were grateful for the "adults only" bar and restaurant which enabled us to have a quiet drink or two before dinner each evening. Wine is very reasonably priced starting at €16 per bottle for quite a good House wine. On a downside however, the hotel could do with a facelift, and whilst very clean, the bathroom would benefit from modernisation also, the bedroom furniture is a little tired. This did not take away from the fabulous time we had and we would certainly not hesitate to return to the Ferrycarrig Hotel.

Room Tip: Opt for a superior room with balcony if the weather is good.

Yet again our family holiday in the Ferrycarrig was superb. From reservations, to check in, to departure the service is second to none. The children adore the kids club and especially Giggles the Clown in the evening times. The staff are truly the gem of this hotel as nothing is too much trouble. What a location on the banks of the river.......can't beat it for a family holiday.

Room Tip: Superior rooms worth that little extra

We stayed for two nights between 13 and 15 August. The service was excellent, staff were helpful and cheerful. Our group comprised four adults and three children. The children loved Mr. Giggles the clown. My sister and her husband wanted to eat in the bar one evening, as they were alone ( the children were at a puppet show), their waiter seated them in the adult only area. When they said they had children who might appear before the end of the meal, they were told not to worry, he would move them. As it happened the children had to be asked to leave the Kids Club and come eat, they loved it so much.

The food is excellent in the Dry Dock Bar, Reeds Restaurant is still very good but the bar is better value. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice. We had no waiting for a table but I was impressed to see the note warning of possible waiting times. With two four year olds, it was unlikely that we would be waiting til 9.30 for breakfast anyway especially with arts and crafts scheduled for 10am.

I would really recommend this hotel for both family and adult only stays

I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. We not only pride ourselves in making your stay a comfortable one but also to offer you excellent service with friendly, efficient staff. The Crazy Clubbers in particular has been part of the Ferrycarrig product for many years, and I am very proud of how the girls welcomed and entertained your children through out their stay. What can I say about “Giggles” he really does entertain the children with making all different animal shapes, swords, bicycles, hats etc from his selection of balloons –the children do get great play time from them.
We look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you and your family back to Ferrycarrig in the not too distant future.

I stayed in this hotel on the 11th and 12th Aug 2012. The hotel sells itself on its idealic surroundings, which is certainly in a magnifcent location and not in question, but don't be fooled! The decor is outdated, shabby around the edges and in need of refurbishing. However many of these things can be overlooked but unfortunately the one thing that can't is... customer service! A smile is something distant from the staff in this hotel, in particular those in the Dry Dock Bar, they are simply rude and treat their customers with contempt! I found them disorganised, ill mannered and the service shocking! I simply wouldn't stay here again.
