If you like gazing dreamily out to sea, watching the ever-changing sky, and seeing islands and distant coasts on the horizon, before popping down to town, perhaps for more chilling out in a beachside cafe, then you will love Pier View.
I was there for a restful January break after a frantic few months, and it was the perfect base for a relaxing break by the sea. Its location gives you the best of both worlds: far enough out of town to give you fantastic sweeping views out to sea, yet close enough to be able to walk in to Weston in 10-15 minutes, with a corner shop, pub and cafe only 2-3 minutes walk away. I didn't use the car all week.
The apartment is entirely self-contained within a handsome Victorian seaside villa, and has its own entrance, giving you complete privacy. Inside, it's a lovely blend of traditional and modern: high ceilings, grand windows and some lovely wooden furniture, but with a contemporary minimalist touch, warmed up with brightly-coloured rugs and cushions.
The living/dining/kitchen area is enormous, with direct views out to sea from two large windows. Even washing-up seems less arduous when you get an enticing view of Steep Holm island ahead of you as you scrub. The kitchen had all modern appliances and fittings. The main bedroom is on the upper floor, with an ensuite and adjoining dressing room, which means that the smallness of the bedroom proper is not a problem. The second room, with two twin beds, is also quite small, but there is enough storage space around the flat for this not to matter too much.
The owner had arranged a welcome hamper of locally-produced goods, which was a very thoughtful touch.
Overall, I think it's probably most suited to singles, couples or families with older children. Older guests may find the steps a little difficult, though if you have a car the parking space is right outside, and would leave only a few steps to negotiate.
I would definitely stay here again, without question. I was also very taken with Weston, which I found to be a lovely and lively seaside town, with a nice buzz about it, and of course a quite majestic beach (and I live 10 mins walk from beautiful beaches in south Wales, so I have high standards when it comes to the seaside!)
I stayed here with a group of old school friends for a long weekend.
It was perfect. Very nicely decorated, the rooms were really light and airy. The whole place was very clean.
Great views throughout but especially in the living area, which is massive!!! Kitchen, big dining table and sofa/ tv area, again very nicely presented.
The apartment is in a great location, nice and quiet area and but still close walking distance to the town.
All the extra touches (welcome hamper, brochures on attractions in the area etc) just topped off a great stay, would definitely stay here again.
We stumbled across this new place when visiting friends in Weston-Super-Mare the other weekend, what a refreshing change to the normal accommodation available.
This place has a great central location on the hillside at one end of the seafront with proper views. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought in to the refurbishment and completed it to a great standard making sure there are all the usual bits you'd expect and a few more personal details too like the local welcome hamper.
Bedrooms and bathrooms are small but perfectly formed, all very clean with fresh linen and towels.
The living room is the real show stopper, it is huge, has really great contemporary decor with a seaside twist and the views are directly over the old pier and out to sea.
Lovely private patio outside for sunny days and bbq's again with an actual view.
One note is there are quite a few steps up to the property.
