“Stunning location”
Reviewed 19 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Robin's Barn is quite simply a beautiful hideaway retreat - set in an enviable location overlooking the Wye Valley with an outside area that makes the most of the picture perfect scenery.

Wonderful, thoughtful hosts who provide everything that you need to make your stay perfect - lovely little touches like fresh shortbread on arrival, fresh flowers on the table and a ready made up fire in the woodburner...you really cant ask for much more - would go back there in an instant!

“The cottage is very comfortable with great owners next door”
Reviewed 3 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Hidden down the tiny roads of the Wye Valley the cottage is situated in the owners 12 acres which descend from just above their house with the cottage next door, down almost to the river. The area is heavily wooded with deer and woodland birds all around and in the gardens. The nearby town of Monmouth is of great interest with the only surviving medieval gatehouse bridge in the UK, and in the surrounding area there are wonderful gardens and castles - particularly Chepstow. For the walking enthusiasts, the Wye Valley walk is just down the road with a footbridge over the river next door to an excellent pub, and there are woodland footpaths close to the cottage.

“A friendly welcome in a beautiful setting.”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Robin's barn is a lovely cottage which was perfect for our stay. Jane and family made us feel very welcome and pointed out a number of local walks and other features, including a herd of wild deer grazing in the garden.

We mostly travelled west from Penalt each day to explore some of the history of South East Wales but also found some interesting places near by. For music fans the museum in Monmouth has a fascinating section about the Rockfield recording studios which are local. Tintern and its abbey are also just a few miles away with lovely river-side walks.

Further afield we found lots of interest in Blaenaven and Merthyr but our favourite location was a walk along the beautiful canal at Govilon.

Liked best: The location, the quiet and the views.
Liked least: Wifi was very slow but that's to be expected in such a rural setting. Just disconnect for a while!
