“Christmas Day lunch to remember”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2011

Our Christmas lunch was amazing, fantastic window table with views of Auckland and really top class food

We had the 7 course menu and our two younger children ate from an excellent childrens menu as well as sampling some of our dishes

For anyone wondering how to spend Christmas day around Auckland we cannot recommend this restaurant and vineyard highly enough. The Island and people are friendly and this was an occasion right up there with the best we have had around the world

Thank you to everyone at Mudbrick and we hope to get back one day to what is a truly special place

“heaven on a plate, in the glass and out of the window”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2010

We had a fantastic evening here on Boxing Day.

Everything exceeded our expectations, despite having been told by numerous people that this was the place to go when we went to Waiheke. It's really quite special & unique compared to other places I've eaten. It's not cheap, but it doesn't set it self up to be cheap. We had three courses each and the recommended wine with each one, plus the complimentaty amusee bouche, and sorbet, and began the evening with a delicious cocktail - mixed to taste, and spent about $330. This did include the 15% surcharge for a public holiday thought. We thought it moeny well spent as thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You should definitely go there..

“Maitre d couldn't be bothered”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 December 2010

Dec 12 we turned and asked for a table outside and he took us to a table with no umbrella (very hot day) so we asked for inside and he then took us to a unclean table, we pointed out a few empty tables but were told they were reserved (but the time we had finished 50 mins later they were still resereved) so the maitre d asked us to wait there and then while he changed the table. The glasses were also not dried properly as specks were noticable. The waitress who served us was great but the maitre d was not up to the standard of such a reputed establishment. Food and wine were good. So we went to Cable Bay and as soon as we got there a cheery welcome by the maitred d and we couldn't of asked for a better relaxing experience.

“Try the sampler at the Cellar Door Tasting Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2010

For those who want to experience what Mudbrick has to offer without breaking the bank, try this. The ala carte menu looks yummy but man, it is expensive (you will spend 100NZD for appetizer, main and dessert, wine not included) so this is the alternative. Two platters, Cheese and Potago, sell for 49NZD each while the Vineyard Platter sells for 60NZD. We ordered the Cheese and Vineyard Platter and the sizes are enough to feed 4 peckish people. The food is relatively cheaper but it does not scrimp on flavour. Complimentary wine tasting is also available so try to do wine tasting before ordering food if you want to pair the wine with your food.

“MUST DO if in Auckland. A gastronomic adventure. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2010

We were just told that we must go to Mudbrick on Waiheke Island. And, that is the best suggestion we have ever received. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We really had no idea what was in store for us when we boarded the Waiheke Island ferry for a cost of $84 return for the family and hopped into a shared bus taxi (with about 5 other groups) saying we were going to Mudbrick at $4 per person.

We arrived at the most amazing vineyard. Something out of a movie. I thought I had died and gone to heaven, and that was before even experiencing the menu at the restaurant.

We started with the Bread and Olives for two with Housemade bread, Waiheke & Italian olived, Waiheke olive oil.

Entree - Avocado Mousse with Dried Tomatoes - Chipollini onions, artichokes, marinated olived, 22 year old balsamic with the matching wine of Mudbrick Pinot Gris

Main - Waiheke & South Islands Finest Lamb, Eggplant mille, feuille, olive & sauce Vierge with the Mudbrick Reserve Merlot Cab Sav

Dessert - Chocolate Souffle with the most amazing dessert wine I have ever tasted - Lustau Pedro Ximenez

All of this was enjoyed with our 2 primary aged children running happily through the vineyard and then later in the other room playing with a big box of lego that the staff supplied.
