“Everything I hoped it would be.”

On arrival we were welcomed by Jo Gary Hannah Amy Archie and Bonzo as though we were old friends. What was once part of an old paper mill have been converted into two very modern comfortable gites. Their is much to do and places to visit within a short distance if you can force yourself away from just relaxing in the large grounds set in beautiful countryside. We thoroughly recommend this as a holiday destination and we shall return.

“Magical retreat”
Reviewed 8 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have wonderful break family break in beautiful semi rural location with wonderful hosts. The children adored the pool, ducks and chickens.

The biggest challenge was trying to agree on relaxing at the gite or visiting the numerous local attractions.

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 22 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Moulin de la Barde is a little gem, set in a beautiful part of France and run by lovely people. The gite is a restored paper mill and is situated near St Severin. It is spotlessly clean, modern and very well equipped. As we were arriving very late, the owners did a little bit of grocery shopping for us which allowed us to have a leisurely start on the first day. Thank you, Jo, for doing that. We were also treated to eggs from the variety of hens that roam in the grounds around the gite.

The village of St Severin is 5 mins by car and has a boulangerie for the morning croissants and baguettes. The local Spar has most of the basics. The lake at Jemaye is worth a visit for swimming and beach. There are various places to canoe on the River Dronne. We did the one from Riberac but there are others scattered around.

This is a beautiful part of France. We will return to this area in the future and would stay at Moulin de la Barde again. We've had a lovely week.

“Fantastic Holiday”

The accommodation was even better than we ever imagined ,coupled with a very warm welcome from Jo , Gary , Amy , Hannah , Archie and Bonzo .Nothing was too much trouble and we felt really at home .There was plenty of information on local activities and places to visit in the information pack which we found really helpful . We could not have asked for a better experience and would urge anyone to visit and experience France at it's best . In fact we booked to return next year before we left .

“An idyllic location for a relaxing holiday”

My wife and our 2 children (5 & 7) and I had a very enjoyable stay in Le Grand Cornet this summer. We received a very warm welcome from Gary, Jo, Hannah and Amy, despite arriving in the pouring rain and they were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.

The gite has been renovated to a comfortable, modern standard but retains some of its original charm and was cosy on the rainy days we had but also cool on the hotter days. It's set in an idyllic, peaceful location and the children very much enjoyed splashing in the plunge pool, feeding the chickens and ducks and bouncing on the trampoline with Hannah and Amy.

The gite was a great base for exploring the region and there was a comprehensive guide provided but we particularly enjoyed the market in Riberac, visits to Sarlat & Brantome, the caves at Lascaux and the beach at La Jemaye which is a 30 minute drive away.

After two weeks we felt relaxed and refreshed and very reluctant to leave! We would throughly recommend Moulin de la Barde to anyone wanting to stay in this area, we certainly hope to return one day.
