It seemed that all the Alexandra staff were out to help move the luggage from the coach drop. The hotel was warm and the rooms were spacious, although typically of Austria - corridors had stuffed animals. All the hosts were pleasant. Aperitifs and canapes were varied and the food and the compimentary wine provided were tasty.A shuttle bus stopped outside for those who would not walk the 400 metres to the nearest chairlift. A number of guests skied back to the door with all the snow! The people in Lech generally were most agreeable (despite earrings being for sale in shops at 500,000 euros). The resort justly merits its high rating. A dump of snow may have briefly cut it off from the world but it still ran like clockwork. The skiing is very varied (try route 37 if you think its too easy) and the rest of the large Arlberg ski area was easy enough to access. Total Ski did a good job. Would we return - sure.

This is a really good value chalet hotel in a resort where the cost of accommodation in the main season can be exhorbitant. The staff are lovely and the food was good and plentiful and our group really like the whole ambience of the Alexandra. It's only a few minutes walk to the nearest lift but it's also easy to take the ski bus if you want to access different areas in the region. As long as you go expecting a comfortable chalet and not a four star hotel you won't be disappointed. We all loved the skiing and the two non-skiers in our group found plenty to do. If we come back to Lech ( and I'm sure we will) we'd definitely stay at the Alexandra.

I can’t believe Homebrewstress and Holidayfan066 went to the same hotel. If it was advertised as a 4 star hotel (it wasn’t to us) it certainly wasn’t that, but our party went there expecting a catered chalet and were impressed by what we got. Lech is not a cheap resort but we thought the Alexandra represented good value for money. The food was good, and the free wine was (as another guest commented elsewhere) definitely above the usual catered chalet standard. The extra wine options were not cheap but the quality was high. The staff were very friendly and well trained. I am not sure why Homebrewstress thinks Lech is a bad resort. He must be in a small minority. In a bad year for snow the pistes were well groomed and generally in excellent condition. The Alexandra also provided three days of ski guiding which in my opinion was invaluable in showing us the three areas of Lech, Zurs and St. Anton. As for the position of the Alexandra, it does not pretend to be in the centre of Lech, but one of the free buses stops outside the door and another nearby. The transfer from Zurs and St Anton was free and very convenient, and we could change from one bus to another at the same stop to get back to the Alexandra. All in all we had an excellent time and are puzzled by these two reviews.

First off Lech is by far the worst ski resort i have ever been too so if you are thinking of going there i would reconsider, the runs are badly laid out resulting in a lot of flat and uphil bits in runs etc. Not sure how it got a reputation for being so luxurious and exclusive, aside from the decorative empty champagne bottle at most bars there was nothing about the resort which implied exclusivity.

Alexandra -
- First off i though the staff were perfect, just the right balance between professional and friendly.
- Food was pretty great, i'd say im a fussy eater and every night there was something on the menu i enjoyed even if it wasnt something i was ever consider ordering in a restaurant.
- afternoon tea and cakes is a genius idea, the cakes were gorgeous.
-If traveling with children the seperate dinner times probably wont appeal to you (what are you supposed to do with the kids while your eating) but the staff were very accomodating and set us up a table in the lounge area.

The problem with the hotel, and the reason i wouldnt recomend it is its condition. Four star HA. it wasnt in bad condition as such but it was all incredibly outdated, and had these hideous tapestries on the walls as well as stuffed animals (which i quite liked actually but i imagine many wouldn't) The accomodation was very very basic, not what you expect from a four star, horrible patterned carpets etc. The light fixture in my room (one of those fake candelabra type things) was skewif etcetc.

I wouldnt warn anyone away from the Alexandra , i had a good time there, the quiz on friday night was great for example, but i would suggest you stay in a totally different resort tbh.

Oh and there practically blacks, those that are shouldnt be, and the blues were in places very steep , there were a few reds easier than blues etcetc.
