This has been one of our favourite ‘long lunch‘ / special occasion restaurants for ages BUT no longer!
Our lunch on Saturday felt rushed with everything being packed up around us from 3 pm onwards, given the prices the service was nothing like it has been in the past, e.g. food passed across people, serve our own wine, no bread with meal ... apparently because of covid?? Not allowed to share food, surely you serve individual portions, interestingly we had a shared salad!
Waitress obviously thought we had a hearing problem as she kept shouting at us vs a normal speaking voice.
Total disappointment and particularly as we had raved about it to the friends who were first timers there.

Estuary is a great restaurant but very expensive. It has location and that is what you are paying for. We enjoyed Quiche and meat pies to eat as takeaways. The fish and chips at $24 was too great. To sit inside you will pay $35 minimum for a main.
Having said that it deserves the 4 star rating as it is excellent.
Howevee if you want to enjoy the location, take a picnic and enjoy the location on the grass surrounds

Went here mid week great location parking is listed at 2 hrs out the front. They say it is policed but didn't see anyone although they could be there on the weekends as it would be very busy.
They have two places you can buy food from the cafe out the front which is takeaway but there are tables and chairs provided to enjoy the waterviews from. The menu is quite good and the prices very reasonable.
We chose to inside in the restaurant and the prices for everything are nearly double outside.
The wait staff were very friendly and the meals were served in reasonable time.
The meals although quite good, (the mussels were a little dry) but the prices for the fish, steak and pie I feel were way too expensive. A $15:00 bottle of wine for $44:00 too. You would expect this at Darling harbour in the city overlooking Cockle Bay but not here on the hawkesbury river.
All in all it was an enjoyable lunch with old friends but the prices would turn me off eating inside at the restaurant again.
Would I eat from the takeaway menu outside most definately. but if you are coming for lunch outside I would suggest you get here early to get a table overlooking the river.

Staff need training on being friendly, signage is also needed regarding takeaway or in-house dining!
Good quality food, well presented, price is fine as it’s good quality ingredients used.
Beautiful outlook and great destination to go to.
Such a shame owners don’t spend time on training their staff. No one enjoys going to a venue that staff makes you feel that they would rather you didn’t come there!

The view was amazing, the waitress was great and the Japenese kingfish caviche salad entree starter the best dish of the night! ...however that's where it ended.

The wine wasn't great. Unfortunately. Surprisingly no decent whisky which one would expect from an expensive resturant. With a Japenese inspired menu and a Japenese chef, perhaps a nice Japanese whisky would be on offer?

The Kinfish Entree was fabulous with delicate flavours however it went down hill from there .. 2 things wernt available on the menu and one more ran out after the first service (there were only 3 couples in the room). The steak while top dollar wasnt great; neither was the tomato muscle pot. The chef obviously cooks great Japanese food !

Unfortunately the food & wine bring this resturant down; especially at such a price. One can't help look around at the empty seats ...

The Estuary was on my resturant bucket list but we will sadly not be returning.
