A Splendid Wren Pemberton Retreat
Ranked #3 of 4 Pemberton B&B and Inns
Reviewed 26 November 2011

We stayed at A Splendid Wren during our recent travels in The Margaret River area and were not disappointed. Tracey was not there when we arrived, we were welcomed by Gomez! There was a note on the door welcoming us and we let ourselves in. The location is slightly unusual the property is a chalet style in the middle of a wooded area. The birds were out in force when we arrived but we didn't see them again during our stay. Tracey is a very helpful and charming host, we ordered an evening meal which was very good and we brought our own wine and beer and sat in the lounge and passed a very pleasant evening. It is certainly worth having a meal at the property, it is easier than driving back to Pemberton as there did not seem to be very much there in the way of restaurants.
Tracey was working the following day so we had breakfast at 7.45 and carried on with our travels.
This property is ideal for somebody that wants a quite forrest type location, ideal for bird watchers and walkers.
Tracey was extremely helpful and an expert on the local area. Very high standard of cooking.
One helpful hint ignore the Sat Nav it doesn't work properly in this area, follow the road signs!
You save a lot of time and petrol!

We were really lucky to stay here. I had only booked the night a few days before we were due to arrive and was really surprised when I saw how nice the place was. The rooms look new, are very nice and the bush is literally outside your front of your door.
The owner Tracey is very nice and you can tell she loves running the B&B. Its great to talk to someone who likes what they do.
The spledid wren was exactly what I was looking for and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Only two rooms available.

The Splendid Wren Retreat is indeed splendid. Tracey provides a warm welcome, as does the family dog, Gomez the Black. The setting is peaceful amongst karri, marri and jarrah trees and the rooms are very comfortable. A highlight is the food - superb breakfasts plus the opportunity to have evening meals there. Don't miss this opportunity! Tracie's skill and love of cooking is evident in her poached trout and truffled chicken. We wished we could have stayed longer.

There are many things to like about 'A Splendid Wren', but all of them come back to the owner,Tracy Leigh. Her charming personality, and generosity of time and spirit make one's stay truly special. And then there is her cooking: absolutely scrumptious and she'll accommodate any kind of dietary restriction, and still come up with a gourmet meal! The rooms are spacious, squeaky clean, with all of the amenities one would expect at a much more expensive B and B. The setting is magical and the area has so many attractions that it is easy to spend a few days here, being pampered. This was my second visit--and I can't wait for the next. Well done Tracy--'A Splendid Wren' goes from strength to strength. Give Gomez a pat for me!

Room Tip: There are only two rooms at 'A Splendid Wren'--one as good as the other

Fantastic breakfast and dinners, all home made.
Cute dog and super friendly hosts.
In the woods, very quiet and great value.
Walls are a touch thin... But would stay again for sure.
