A little off the beaten track is this lookout where you climb a ugly concrete tower for 360 degrees across Albany. Views are fantastic, amazing.

If you are only in Albany for the one night make time to get here before sunset or before you leave town. It gives you a good look at the area.

Mt Melville lookout is another of our favourite spots in Albany. Its a bit run down nowadays, but the views are simply fantastic, although it can get a bit windy and cold at the top at times. I remember many years ago they used to have a kiosk here and it is a pity it has long gone. Would be nice to have it back.

Albany reminded me of Rio - a beautiful harbour draped in masses of green - but Albany only has 35,000 people so it's relatively untouched. The view from Mt Melville is breathtaking but it might benefit from more facilities for the tourist. For a quick stop with high impact it's just fine.
