We went down to Albany a couple of weekends ago & decided to stay at this place based on reviews on TA and so glad we did.

It is a purpose built small B&B located in a residential area not far from the town centre and yet it has a rural feel about the place - very quiet and peaceful with a lovely greenery view. The hostess was welcoming, friendly & helpful. Local information we received pre-arrival and post check-in were very useful.

The B&B comes with a shared kitchen a laundry facility - so very useful for guests who's been on the road for some time. The kitchen was fully equipped and immaculately clean.

Our breakfasts included a good selection of cold and hot food, cooked & served timely in the dining room or guest's own room. It was always delicious, healthy and well presented.

Our room was very spacious & spotless. The king size bed was very comfy - soft but had good support. We had the "Bushland" room which was the largest of the 3 rooms but it did not have a balcony like the other 2 rooms. It had a small outdoor sitting area (with table & chairs) towards the back, facing some bushland (hence the name). Other positives : bath robes, slippers, room safe, free wifi, tea/coffee making etc...

They really have thought of everything!

We had a very relaxing stay. Thank you Becki & Maggie.

Room tip: Room 1 & 2 for views. Room 3 for extra space & a bar fridge

Thanks for your review Alexandra - WOW you worked your whole trip to Australia around a return visit to HideAway Haven. It was so much fun having you here even if it was only for one night. Can't wait for you to come back and stay for a whole lot longer.

From the moment we left our car and called into the office for our Key we were met by two beautiful souls, Maggie and Becki. We knew the moment we entered our room we had been well catered for, not a speck of dust, beautiful large bed, furniture to match and the decor was beautifully adorned. Mr Ted was waiting patiently to welcome us both. We were totally impressed by the way the HideAway Haven was presented, the entire premises was immaculate. The breakfasts, oh my goodness, they were beautifully presented very tasty, and full of earthy colours. 'Out of this world to be exact!' Maggie and Becki are two wonderful hosts who looked after our every need. This little secret hideaway is just that. Please ignore the negativity from the previous post because it just is not the truth...sometimes people grizzle because they have nothing better to do!! We love this place and will go back there again just for the experience, and to add this lovely little place is closely connected to the township of Albany. It's kind of like a home away from home but with all the Bells & Whistles plus much more. This place is sheer luxury... Thank you Maggie and Beckie for being such wonderful hosts, you both should be so proud of your achievement to present such a gorgeous B&B...

Room tip: All the rooms are beautiful...you get to see the beautiful forests of Albany from each of the guest rooms...

The B&B was very nice - clean and quiet. We stayed one night in a smaller room (queen size bed an "view" balcony) and 2 nights in the larger suite (king size bed with "no view" balcony). The queen size room was a little tight and larger suite had lots of room but felt dark due to not much natural light. Beck and Maggie were very nice, and yes similar to the last reviewer we found there to be an over emphasis on the eco environmental thing with shutting out lights, saving water, service etc etc. Two things prompted the average rating. The first was the in a cost/benefit approach I honestly do not think the place was worth the price we paid for it in comparison to the many other places we have stayed. The place was nice but it was not a luxurious in our opinion. Secondly, the breakfasts rate at the bottom end of our experiences in B&B's. You pre-order your breakfast the night before along with what time you wanted it. They then pre-made the breakfast upstairs and brought it downstairs like room service. You had the choice to eat in your room or out in the common area. This meant, if you had eggs, they were basically cold by the time you got them even with the covers. But the worst was we just did not find anything to be tasty. We tried 3 different breakfast items and did not find anything to our tastes for different reasons - over cooked, cold, green fruit, not well made.......sorry ladies but your cooking was not to our tastes. Yes you stressed that you strive for healthy eating but that doesn't mean it can't taste good. One last thing, they ask you to limit their WIFI usage, ie. no streaming. Yes they provide DVD's for you to watch and "basic" TV; but it's not like we were in the wild out back with a lack of services. In this day and age streaming shows/news/etc is the way to go, especially when the basic TV package had nothing really on it.

Thank you for taking the time to review HideAway Haven. We consider ourselves to be an environmentally friendly hosted accommodation and have been eager to implement programs that save or reuse water, save energy and reduce waste. Our property has been assessed with a five star energy efficiency rating. We ask our guests to please participate in helping us look after our planet. Serving your room is an option which is given every morning during your stay, much like any hotel in the world.
Our Bushland Executive Suite has 3 large window allowing natural light to stream through including the sun in the afternoons. As HideAway Haven is built on the side of a very steep hill and the architectural design of our accomation being built around 48 poles, the view from our suite is a little limited, however guests can still enjoy their breakfast and the view from our common deck.
We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your breakfast. As readers can read from previous reviews our breakfasts are the highlight of their stay with us at HideAway Haven. I am glad your husband enjoyed his Belgian Waffles served with fresh strawberries and the mushroom and spinach omellette as was evident by his compliments. We visit our farmers markets twice a week to ensure only the freshest food is served to our guests.
At no time did we ask you to limit your WiFi usage as we have an unlimited download service. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Australia.

I find this hard to review as we rarely visit B&B’s so don’t have much to compare it to.
It’s a small B&B where the hosts live on the top floor and there are 3 ensuite bedrooms on the floor below. It’s 10 mins out of Albany and very close to shops.
The hosts, Becki and Maggie are lovely and attentive and go out of their way to help and accommodate you.
The whole place is very clean.
Good quality breakfast with an emphasis on non-processed products. Breakfast is chosen the night before and delivered to your room or in the small common dining room/kitchen.
It was quiet for the 4 nights we stayed even though all rooms were occupied.
As for the rooms, we stayed in number 3 which was the largest, even though it had the smallest bathroom. It’s nicely done and had it’s own fridge etc, small dining table, A/C and small lounge area. It’s a dark room. Bathrobes and 2 suitcase stands are provided which is rare even in 5 star hotels! The downside to this room, and it’s a big downside in our view, is that it doesn’t have a balcony facing the view which is such a shame as the view is right there on the other side of a wall. There is a window facing the bush but it’s not much of a view, it’s just of the side of the badjacent bedroom and some close trees but nothing from the bed. There is a small outside area at the back but it’s not that attractive as it faces a close sloping bank of dead branches, dirt, weeds etc. A nice rock garden with lights would work wonders here! The other problem is that the adjacent bedroom has a balcony where they can look back into room 3 so you have to be aware of that.
Rooms 1 and 2 are lovely and have large balconies. They are much lighter but smaller. They have larger bathrooms. They don’t have their own fridges so the occupants have to use the common kitchen fridge. They have great views across the district with water glimpses.
There is an over emphasis on saving water, turning lights off, not servicing the room etc. I know it’s an environmental thing but we are in holiday.
On the whole it’s a nice place but we wouldn’t recommend room 3 due to the lack of a balcony with view. We would however recommend rooms 1 and 2.
I’m sorry ladies for the negative parts of the review but I always review as honestly as I can and based on my experience.
4 stars is probably what we would give this B&B.

Thank you Buster for taking the time to review HideAway Haven. We are so glad you enjoyed your breakfast and appreciated our emphasis on non-processed products. We consider ourselves to be an environmentally friendly hosted accommodation and have been eager to implement programs that save or reuse water, save energy and reduce waste. Our property has been assessed with a five star energy efficiency rating. We only ask our guests to help us conserve our natural resources and be kind to our planet even if they are on holidays. We do give you the option of having your room served, as do most 5 star hotels around the world. Architecturally designed, HideAway Haven is a purpose built accommodation. Wrapped around 48 Jarrah and Pine poles which support our house, HideAway Haven is an extension of our home. It has been built and decorated specifically to harmonise with the natural exterior hues by bringing warm earth tones to the interior. Our Bush Land (room 3) has 3 large window including a large glass sliding door allowing the natural light to stream through. The afternoon sun and evening sunset colours envelope the room in different colours every day. The accommodation has been designed and built to ensure privacy for all our guests. Thank you for the suggestion of a rock garden and lights around the balcony. We are waiting for the bushes, and creepers to grow and cover the hill and we will look into the idea of installing some lights for additional ambience. We hope we can welcome you back to HideAway Haven again one day.
