We just did the Gt Ocean Road,Anglesy to Apollo Bay.The views of the coastline on the way down are,as always, fanstastic. We stayed in Anglesy,at a caravan site and this was excellent too.
The most dissapointing part of our trip was Apollo Bay and to a lesser extent lorne.
The condition of the beachfront tables,(the concrete ones) were disgusting, dirty and in need of a facelift, and the whole beachfront shops and buildings seemed run down to us,and mainly aimed at the surfing community. We wondered what any overseas tourist would think of it. Compared to eurpean beauty spots it was run down and in need of a fcelift.
We had F/Chips in Lorne and Apollo Bay,didnt like either. Our local one in Lilydale leaves both for dead.
The natural part of the trip, the views, are as always great and well worth a visit, but for us next time we'll enjoy the views and keep driving through.

Four of us from the UK hired John McInerney of Port Campbell Touring Company to give us a 10 day private tour from Melbourne to Adelaide. This was an amazing tour which we customised with him from the UK and John was an excellent guide throughout. Not only was he most informative, you could not meet a more friendly, helpful and considerate person. John was a park ranger for 25 years in the Victoria National Park system so is very knowledgeable about the area-- the birdlife, the wildlife, the best places to hike, fish, surf or do photography.
The 10 day tour included local attractions outside of Melbourne, Point Lonsdale, the Otway National Park, the Great Ocean Road, Ballarat, the Grampians National Park, Coonawarra wineries, the Coorong and ended at the coast near Adelaide.

To accommodate us comfortably, he used his spacious Mercedes people carrier and a trailer for luggage when on the road.

We highly recommend John for giving you a very memorable trip. John's website can be found at the following address www.portcampbelltouring.com.au

My family of 2 adults and 2 kids enjoyed a small group tour to Great Ocean Road. Before I arrived in Australia, I did a research on the reviews posted on the tripadvisor and decided to book the GOR and the Phillips Island tours. The guide picked us up at the lobby of Holiday Inn on Flinders. On our way to GOR, we stopped over several places for sight-seeing.One of the attractions, worth for the tour, is hand feeding a variety of colourful parriots and you can even let the parriots eat seeds on your head and hands. We had a close observation of wild Kaola,A visit to 12 apostles and falling of the London bridge is a must! Unlike other tours, we all well seated on a 4WD Mercedes SUV and enjoyed our lunch with good chats with our group members of 9 at the Apollo Bay and dinner at an Italian style reastaurant( breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the tour).

Honestly this has been the highlight of my trip so far! I loved the great ocean road because of the wonderful scenery and lush coastal views! I'd you love driving you will love this road!! It's brilliant with all the twists and turns and straights! It's fantastic and while you are driving down you get to look at some of the best views around! I must sayid you are going to do it then first get around 4/5 people and rent a car! It works out cheaper and is much more fun and 2nd I would do it over two days rather than one! Take your time and enjoy it!! A must do if you are in the country!!

simply awesome. though its a 4 hours drive from melbourne as its around 240 k.m. but its worth every minute. u will see some breathtaking scenes. road conditions are very good so any one can drive easily which is d best option. in between u can take breaks as ther r number of cafes and eateries or u can carry ur food and drinks as they have lot of places to sit around which also have bar-b-q facilities too. but the main attraction is d twelve opostles which is just amazing. so one should not miss this as its just out of the world.
