Room smelt damp/mouldy

This resort is sublet through the Wyndham Resort and as such there is no 'Beachfront Resort' signage. Confusing. We had to pick the key up from an office in Torquay and there was only a one hour window on the Saturday (on the long weekend) that we were allowed to do this.

The location is good. It is across the road from the beach and a short walk into town.

Our two bedroom apartment was in fact a one bedroom apartment and an interconnecting hotel room. We did not know this until we had paid.

The hotel room absolutely stunk of mould and damp. Not good at all. Grouting in showers mouldy, shower leaked everywhere each time someone took a shower. The safe did not work.

As the place was booked out we had no choice but to stay there. For over $500 a night for the 'two bedroom apartment' this was most disappointing. I would not go out of my way to recommend this place.

Booked 3 nights. The hotel is located opposite the beach and a 5 min drive from the main airy of Torquay.
There is ample underground secure free parking anc the swimming pool is big and spacious. There does though need more shaded areas on hot sunny days
Stayed in a standard double room overlooking the pool. The room was adequate but our fly screen broke, no table outside abc the curtain were stained. The bathroom is small but adequate but unfortunately not cleaned from previous occupant. Toothpaste covered sink! Not impressed esp in covid times hygiene needs to be in top priority.
It was fine for the nights we stayed but definitely not for a week’s holiday.
The staff were friendly and the cafe is nice but needs more healthier menu options.
A nice little getaway but in all honestly I wouldn’t rebook. It was very expensive and in my opinion not value for money. I was charged more than to fly 2 adults and a child to Bali!
On a plus side Torquay is a great seaside town with some hidden gems of restaurants.

Stayed here for four nights with our four children for a family break. It’s actually a sublet of the Wyndham which is undergoing a lot of repairs. We were told we had a full fridge, full kitchen and would have single beds and a sofa bed for the kids. We had one single bed for the kids and had to separate a king into singles ourselves for them, there wasn’t enough bedding to use the sofa bed. The 2 bedroom apartment was a 1 bedroom apartment with an adjoining hotel room so we had two bathrooms, laundry, dryer, three TVs etc.
we also chose it for proximity to the beach, the pools for if the weather was warm-had cancelled a tropical holiday due to COVID and the kids were desperate to swim.
Pros
-Facilities had hand sanitiser on entry, it was quiet being a cold weekend, we were left alone.
-Room was quiet-so quiet, we couldn’t even hear three of the kids when they accidentally locked themselves in their room one morning and couldn’t get out.
-mattresses were comfy
-location was great directly across from a great beach
-included strong wifi was great
Cons
-Sublet of the Wyndham meant there was no signage, checkin was problematic and offsite and only during certain hours
-a number of light globes had blown
-kids managed to lock themselves in their room and couldn’t be heard or get out for some time while we were asleep.
-not enough towels and linen for 6 of us and signage everywhere made it very clear there would be no more provided
-safe was not functioning
-no daily service in the high room fee, we had to dispose of our own rubbish
-not enough supplies given for stay-expected to purchase and supply our own bin bags, dish detergent, toilet paper, dishwasher powder, laundry detergent, tea, coffee, sugar etc and so on was beyond belief. We got through a bit given there were 6 of us in the apartment-not an extreme amount, but a bit. The full size fridge was a bar fridge with one shelf where our items froze.
-also, no sink plug for the kitchen sink, one tea towel, one chux, a full kitchen but no fry pan or oven tray! No microwave dishes. Made it really hard to cook or prepare food for the kids. Not enough plates for us to eat together (6 people and four plates, not enough chairs, no outdoor chairs, just a small grotty table).
The apartment overall was clean, pillows were terrible and it could do with a spring clean (given it’s for sale, windows really grotty, as was the bathroom grout and exhaust fan).
-due to COVID restrictions the indoor pool was closed, but so was the games room?? There were table tennis tables but no equipment, the outdoor pool was bearable but really could have been turned up a few degrees given there’s nothing else to do there, and the spa too. They were both chilly (Wyndham controlled).
-my 3yo was really excited to see the playground but it was full of water.
-no comments re staff, my hubby ran the keys in and out, no call during our stay to see how things were or if we needed anything, there were lists of rules in the apartment about how much a call out would cost. Didn’t see or hear from a soul.
Perhaps a call to check on guests might be a nice thing to do?
Overall we wouldn’t stay through Beachfront again, we’d consider staying through Wyndham once some of their upgrades they were doing were done. If only to get the expected level of service (adequate linen, daily servicing, rubbish removal, kitchen supplies etc).

Room tip: Stay through Wyndham or somewhere else instead

Great getaway for 2 nights after the lockdown period. Lots of tracks nearby for long walks and beach across the road. Ideal location for exploring Torquay. Very close to the main town centre. Staff were excellent to deal with. Room had everything we needed to 2 nights so overall happy with our stay.

Surf Coast Rental staff were helpful, friendly and pleasant, key pick up is between 2pm and 5pm only. Any extra towels required and you will need to go the office which is about a km away. The room itself was fine except that you get just one small piece of soap for a 2 night stay and just 2 towels for the 2 days. There was a minimum amount of cutlery and no dish washing cloth or detergent just a tea towel.
There is a microwave and a jug but no bowls. If you want somewhere to put your head down to sleep then that about all its good for. It is way over priced for what you have in the room. With that said the staff that look after the rentals were great, the outdoor pool area was well maintained and Torquay is a pretty and friendly town with some great boutique shops.

Painfully convuluted checkin process as you need to get the key from an agent first in Torquay.
Then you won't see a sign for Beachfront Resort as it apparently sub let within the Wyndham Resort.
Underground car park and then a lift up to our room. Aircon was not working nor were 2 lights in the entrance area. Bed and couch was sagging and no table in the room except a dirty outdoor table on the balcony. Nice view of the pool area which is attractive and there is a bar by the pool serving snacks and drinks.
Overall disappointing and needs some maintenance and upgrading.
Oh and they want you to wash and put away plates and cups but don't provide any cleaning materials or a kitchen sink!
