Nice and cosy

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Mar 2020
I stayed overnight on my way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Dave was very welcoming and had me in a nice ground floor room. I thought the squeaky floorboards from the room upstairs would impinge on my nights sleep, but once those guests stopped moving around all was quiet. My room was nice and there were biscuits to enjoy with my cup of tea. For the price, it is thoroughly recommended. before I left I took a walk along Seaby Street toward the track where the Stawell Gift is run. The footpath along the way near the track has some interesting story boards giving some details of the runners over the years.
Date of stay: March 2020
Room Tip: Upstairs rooms would be quieter.

A quirky 100+yo establishment run by a most capable man, Dave. He works at reception & is the restaurant chef in the evening! Quiet rooms great for a good night’s sleep. Stawell is an easy drive to the Grampians without the bustle of Halls Gap (it was Grand Final weekend). Restaurant has superb service & food. On our second night we tried the local fish & chip, which was pretty good too.

We have had a great 5 days at this quaint little motel. Our room was extremely comfortable and warm, as this was a very cold snap in Victoria.
We were in a ground floor unit and so our car was at our door.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant but it looked very nice and welcoming.

Motel was clean and warm, although dated. The fridge in the room had a really weird smell and although there was a toaster, there were no plates or knives and forks to eat breakfast in our room with. Didn’t try the restaurant as the stale smoke smell in the motel foyer put us off and again the place was very dated. It was a comfortable stay and was what we required but price doesn’t really reflect the amenities offered. Recommendations of local eats would be helpful in the room information, as well as WiFi password.

We stayed here 3 nights & ate in the restaurant twice. A nice ambience with an open fire made a good atmosphere to eat our delicious meals which came piping hot with an excellent selection of fresh varied vegetables which we thoroughly enjoyed. Staff attentive and friendly. Motel itself clean but could probably do with some TLC and you could definitely hear the people overhead clumping about which was disappointing. Would definitely return to the restaurant if we were in the area.

Room tip: Upstairs is a better option as regards noise.

The staff was very friendly and we had a very warm welcome. Large room, good bed and it was clean. We really enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant, the food was very good and the waiter was very friendly.
