All I can say is that if you don't have a dog - then get one so you can see the excitement of your four-legged fur-baby when they see the enormous grassed paddock and doggy playground.

Peter & Viv have provided an amazing place for ALL the family and my girl Megs just had a ball with so much space to run around in the off-leash paddock.

But it's not just your fur-baby who will have a lovely time. The cabins were spotless and well stocked and the staff were all extremely helpful.

And just because you've brought your dog along doesn't mean you can't explore the area - there are a number of dog kennels nearby that welcome your pooch for the day.

Although many beaches have restrictions on when dogs can access them, there are still plenty of other beaches in and around Port Fairy for your fur-babies to explore.'

This was my first visit to Gum Tree caravan park and will certainly not be my last.

I'll, sorry, We'll be back :-)

Room tip: Get a cabin with a private sitting area outside of their cabins

Is ok to stay at, we got a cabin for two nights. Dishes in cabin were not clean and the water pressure and hot water in the shower is terrible. Almost impossible to wash yourself properly. I would prefer to stay at the other caravan park that I have stayed at before.

Great little caravan park for a quiet getaway. Stayed in the Superior Ensuite Cabin. Fantastic condition with everything you would need. Pet friendly with a large off leash area for the dog to run free. Very friendly owners. Highly recommend.

I made a reservation in advance for a cabin for our second night on the Great Ocean Road. After realizing how long it took to get to Apollo Bay on the first night I regretted committing to driving all the way to Port Fairy the next day. So within 24 hours of our arrival I canceled the reservation and then decided I had made a mistake and requested the reservation be reinstated, which it quickly was. The hosts here are wonderful. Upon arrival we were given a map with the local grocery stores and a recommendation to walk Griffith Island. A lovely walk with many birds and wallabies! We grabbed a few things at the market and grilled in the camp kitchen. The cabin was spotlessly clean, air conditioning worked great, all excellent. Port Fairy is a lovely town and a great stop for a second night on the GOR. We headed back to Melbourne on the inland route the next day and it was about 3 hours. Give Gum Shoe a try - you won't regret it!!!!

Room tip: We had a small (studio) cabin and it was more than spacious enough for two people. Bathroom was quite large.
