We had fish which looked like it came straight out of a birds eye packet and the high prices for bad quality.

We stopped in Port Campbell for lunch. We decided to try this place although when we arrived it was empty.

It was reasonably priced, and had a good varied lunch menu.

The man serving was very friendly, although it became busy so he had his work cut out.

The food was nice, especially the pork sliders. The fish chowder was not as good, as it was more of a blended fish soup rather than a chowder, and you only get a tiny bit of toast with it. But well worth a try.

Great food, excellent friendly staff, would highly recommend this restaurant, and a really huge plus is that it is open past 8pm, till late in fact. I can’t believe that in the height of the season you cannot find a restaurant open after 8....you’re really missing a trick all you owners 😉

We were down in Port Campbell for a Christmas New Year break. Having been there previously, we decided to go to waves for lunch. When we arrived we were unenthusiastically greeted and given a table to sit at. It then took about 10 minutes before anyone came back to the table to see us and give us menus. Once we got someone, we ordered our coffees and asked for a few minutes to look at the menu. After another 10 to 15 minutes, no one had returned, so we flagged down the first person we saw and gave our order. It then took another half an hour for just our coffees to arrive - I would understand this if the restaurant was busy, however there was only another two tables occupied. We probably waited another half an hour for our food which was a salmon bruschetta, sliders and a corn beef toastie, none of which would be complicated dishes I would’ve thought. The toastie itself was okay, however I requested some extra mustard to give my toastie some more flavour and was told it would be brought out. I waited 10 minutes before approaching a staff member at the bar, again requesting the mustard. After another five minutes, it still hadnt come so I ate the rest of it as it was already cold. My companions food was nice they both said, the thing that let Waves down was the service - it was as if the both staff on were not interested and had better things to do - maybe they had a big night for New Year’s and were are bit under the weather? That said, I was quite disappointed, as we have been regular waves customers on many previous visits to Port Campbell - our lunch, which was meant to be fairly quick, dragged on for nearly 2 1/2 hours - most of this was delays either with food being provided or being served by the staff - not sure if the place has changed management or something but don’t think I’ll be back.
