We visited the Naracoorte caves national park and went on three caves tours. We took a guided tour of the Alexandra cave and then the amazing Victoria fossil cave and walked the Stick tomato cave on our own. Alexandra was a nice intro and very close to the tourist booking centre. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We had scones with jam and cream and a cuppa at the cafe before walking through the Stick tomato cave which was also good. The highlight was the guided tour at the Victoria fossil cave which was an hour long walk through a truely amazing cave. It was a short 5 minute drive from the tourist centre but well worth it. The guide was also terrific and very entertaining. This cave system is a must see.

The kids have never been to any caves so I thought I’d treat them on a trip here. They had a great time exploring & looking around it’s a must see if your down this way.

What a gem!
This cave site that dates back over 500,000 years is amazing.
We did 2 guided tours - Alexandra cave - good intro and then the Victoria Fossil Cave.
This was a 60 minute tour that was so interesting it felt like 15 minutes!! The guide was full of local knowledge.
Well worth a visit!!

We went on a tour of the Victorian Fossil cave.
Our guide Des was exception with her local knowledge as she grew up in the area and visited the caves as a child.
The limestone formations were beautiful and the fossils amazing.
There are many caves to explore if time allows.

For 500,000 years, the Naracoorte Caves have acted as a trap for unwary animals.

From reception we headed to the display of prehistoric animals which was thrilling for our youngster. Atmospheric sounds and lighting brings the place alive and gives a sense of wonder.

We also explored the tomato stick caves once submerged under water for thousands of years.

This is a worthwhile visit for kids and adults alike and not unreasonably priced too.
