Did a cave tour, guide was knowledgeable and fun. We also had a look at the free caves which also was great. Recommend if you are in the area.

I had visited the National Park many years ago, but never took a cave tour. Boy was I missing out!
This time we did the Victoria Fossil Cave tour, led by the lovely Danielle. She was very knowledgeable and made all the information fun as well as informative. The group was kept small enough to ensure everyone got a good view of all the interesting spots along the tour, from the "cave decorations" to the fossils.
I was expecting it to be really cold in the cave, so had rugged up, but it actually wasn't too bad. A warm jumper would probably be sufficient.
The time flew, and we really could have spent much longer down there. But it was nice to get back into the fresh air again!
If you have time before (or after) a tour, be sure to stop at the Caves cafe - their homemade sausage rolls are amazing!!

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the cafe serves excellent food, and the caves are just outstanding.

They offer a variety of specials on the prices for the caves, and on top of that, you can get a 10% discount voucher from the Information Centre in town.

Bat Cave.. oh that bat cave. Never seen anything like it!

Visited in winter, the tours are limited, so be sure to check times when you plan. We missed the last tour, arriving around 15:00, so toured the self- tour cave and came back in the morning for the Alexandra cave tour. It was well worth the trip back, especially because our guide Dec was knowledgeable and experienced. It was a small group which made it especially nice. The cave is full of interesting and lovely stalactites and stalagmites. Very photogenic!

Even if caves are not your thing then this a must see if you have any interest in Australian fauna. They are easily accessible (but not wheelchair friendly) and they are at such a scale you never feel claustrophobic. The visitor centre has a whole bunch of exhibits and the staff are knowledgable and very friendly.
Make sure to plan your tour for the best experience. Each of the caves is different and they all have a wow factor for different reasons - so it is best to do at least two of the tours back to back. We especially enjoyed the Alexandra cave for its stalagmite formations and the Victoria fossil cave for the chance to see what an underground dig entails.
The Bat Cave is being refurbished (and the bats are seasonal) so Bruce Wayne was not in residence.
