Great spot to switch off

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 May 2021
We really enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Riesling Country Cottages.

The cottage we stayed in was quite modern, with everything we needed for a comfy stay. The views off the deck are stunning, as is the night sky from this spot, so many stars! The seclusion and peace was amazing.

The breakfast provisions were lovely and generous, and we really enjoyed the bottle of local wine. The kitchen is helpfully equipped with the little things that are often forgotten in accommodation, like kitchen paper, cling film, baking paper etc. As there is no rangehood inside we found the smell of dinner lingered, so we'd recommend cooking outside on the bbq instead.

The spa is a nice touch - although we noted that if you fill the spa, there isn't a lot of hot water left for showers/dishes afterwards so just be mindful of that!

The cottages are self-sufficient, hooked up to rainwater. The water flowing during our stay was quite brown however (particularly noticeable when using the spa), so we purchased a box of spring water from the shops for drinking.

This is an awesome little private cottage, made extra special by the old fashioned and generous hospitality of the host with a lovely arrival package of wine and groceries for the morning fry-up. Comfy cottage with a simple but quintessential Australian rural outlook, accessible by a private deck. BYO wi-fi, Netflix etc if so desired. Oh, BYO flannels as well as none provided, each to their own for that one. Maybe some insect repellent too as the mosquitoes are vicious! While rural, it’s still very handy to the towns, wineries etc that Clare Valley has to offer. Look up at the stars when you’re there. We didn’t lack for anything and had a wonderful stay. Highly recommended.

We had an 8 night stay in late May and we’re pleasantly surprised. The views from the cottage are divine. Andrew and Mandy are great hosts and provided us with all our needs. Certainly idyllic for a short stay.

Our family has just enjoyed two nights at Mount Rufus cottage. Mandy was very welcoming with amazingly generous breakfast provisions and a bottle of wine. Our children were delighted to meet the resident alpacas and we all enjoyed a cheeky afternoon visit from a very excitable Winston. With tranquil views of rolling hills, a warm log fire, spacious spa and comfortable beds - we will be back!

A very peaceful setting , the current photos do not do it justice as it has been modernised in a much cleaner fresher style.
The food supplies left were generous and delicious, a perfect spot to recharge the batteries.

Beautiful spot in the Clare Valley and so peaceful. Some very generous provisions left for us by Mandy and the home made bread was the best! It was just what my partner and I needed. Would definitely stay there again.
