My husband and I stayed at the Abbey of the Roses for the weekend. We were greeted with a friendly smile and tour of the Abbey by Mark. Sitting in front of the lounge fire on Saturday afternoon we met the friendly cat. Our room had it's own fireplace and the king size bed was very clean and comfortable. On Sunday morning at 8.30am we had a beautiful full breakfast served by the lovely Sonia. Overall a great getaway, quiet, peaceful and romantic.

Mark, Sonia and Bazil (in the order we met them!) run a fantastic B&B steeped in history and with wonderful little touches that make Abbey of the Roses a beautiful spot to get away - even for a short break like ours. The four-poster bed and chandelier in our room gave a romantic atmosphere - and the bed was firm and comfortable. We took advantage of the dine-in option in the evening, a private table for two in the chapel (in our case) without having to worry about the drive home was a tonic for both of us (and compliments to the chef). A complimentary after-dinner port and a visit from the very personable Bazil finished a great evening. We will certainly be back.

Room tip: The ensuite room meant we didn't have to venture out at night!

Thank you, Sonia and Mark [and Bazil] for making our visit so special. The Bavarian room is so lovely and I fell in love with the stained glass reflections in the room. Very caring hosts, wonderful food and so much history!

My husband and I stayed at the Abbey on the recent three-day weekend as a getaway from Brisbane. I am a lover of historical places and found this one particularly interesting. There are many beautiful original details that peacefully co-exist with a few modern updates here and there (televisions, artwork, excellent showers). The rooms are gorgeously decorated and the grounds are stunning. It is clear that restoring this grand dame was a labor of love.

If you have you route pass Warwick this is the place to stay the night. a lovely old abbey that has all of it's old charm left and nicely refurbished. The owners are very friendly and the rooms individually furnished and tidy. Only minus that we had to pass the corridor to reach our bathroom but bathrobes are included and the bathroom was very spacious so no big deal. Included was also a cooked first class breakfast that gave us a perfect start of the next day

Thank you for your review.

Yes, some of the bathrooms are 'private' (your bathroom but not in the room) whilst others are ensuite (bathroom in the room). Being heritage listed it has been challenging fitting private and ensuite bathrooms in for the rooms but the bathrobes & slippers keep you warm and cozy :)
Glad you enjoyed your breakfast and hope to see you back again one day.

Regards
Mark, Sonia & Bazil the cat
