“The Great Escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2012

This is a great place to get away to mid-week or for a weekend. It's close to the beach with wonderful ocean views, handy to all kinds of shopping, restaurants and cafes. This close proximity and secure underground parking means you can park and forget about your car for the duration of your stay. There are several garden areas with barbeques, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, and the choice of different size apartments to suit everyone's needs. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Apartments are very clean, self-contained with TVs, CD players, internet and cable. There are movies on demand so you can catch up with those latest releases you missed at the cinema. We've been staying here for years and look forward to our next visit.

I'd stayed at the Mantra Mooloolaba last year for a work conference and wanted to bring my husband back to experience the place.
Came this year just before Easter for a four night stay at great online prices. Even though we had the cheapest room available being the end rooms, we still had a great view from everywhere in the apartment.
The unit had all the facilities that you would need for a comfy stay - not that you would want to cook much with the wide range of restaurants around. Well equipped kitchen, sound system, TV setup and bathroom.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.

We found the resort to be a very high standard. The staff were very pleasant.. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. We did have some problems with the card entry system and had to have the cards replaced a couple of times.

Room Tip: Higher floors facing the beach.

I stayed at the Mantra Mooloolaba Beach recently for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment whilst attending a conference. The apartment is the usual standard fare - full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a laundry. It was all clean and tidy and the decor was pretty much contemporary. The apartment had everything you need for a few days away.

The location is fantastic - right across the road from Mooloolaba Beach with access to all the shops and cafes of the beach strip. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to sort out anything you wanted to know about.

3 things that I'd raise as niggles:
1. I was on the 12th floor - which is OK for a couple of adults (though I hate heights!), but not so good for children. There were only glass doors out to the balcony (i.e no screen or security doors) - so if you want the breeeze blowing and have young children with you, you'd better keep a tight hold on them.
2. The ensuite bathroom had a very weird, circular window right over the shower/bath. The view was nice - but not so sure what the occupants of the other buildings across the way would have said! You can close the view with a very 1970s shower curtain - but you know what pesky things they are to deal with.
3. The lifts were a bit intermittent - a comment raised by a number of others staying in the building. Apparently the lift was damaged about 12 months ago and has never quite been the same. From time to time, you were stuck waiting a while for you lift - or, if you didn't press your floor button quickly enough, rode up and down with the other passengers until you got off.

Despite those niggles, I would stay again. Never having stayed at Mooloolaba before, I was very impressed with the relaxed feel and the variety of shopping and eating nearby. And, the walk to the end of Mooloolah River walk wall was a great start to the day.

Room Tip: Choose an ocean view apartment - not just for the view, but to make sure the scorching afternoon sun...

i stayed 2 weeks ago for 2 nites, checked prices online but then decided to walk in and book a room on the spot, pretty much no difference between walk in price and online price based on a 2 nite stay, i stayed in a 1 bedroom ocean view apartment 176 dollars per nite and stayed to nites, not sure if i was just lucky but the room i was allocated was on the 11th floor and honestly cant complain about the amazing uninterupted view of the ocean just could not have asked for a better view, 1 bedroom appartment nice size loungeroom comfy lounge good size lcd tv and a tiny little stereo that surpirsed me with a good loud sound (had to turn it down was thinking of my neighbours), comfy queen maybe kingsize bed and a wadrobe and draws (a little on the small size tiny complaint) the bathroom had a round spa which was quite uniuqe to me window on one side so u could enjoy a nice hot spa and look out to the ocean, yet still had a curtain if u wanted to ensure your privacy, full size mirror on the bathroom door i thought was a nice little touch, so nice lounge room, nice tv balcony was reasonable size with a table and chairs (the chairs had drain holes so they dont full up with water BRILLIANT wish every other hotel would follow this small yet sensible move)

so for my one dissapointment, the kitchen is more like a half a kitchen, reasonable preperation bench good size sink and mixer tap, but no oven? seriously one bedroom apartment kitchen yet no oven, wasnt imprest and then to find a portable hotplate for cooking? not imprest, i pay 176 a nite for 2 nites for a one bedroom apartment with only half a kitchen, no oven, just a portable hotplate (these things a pretty much useless and only what ud expect to find in a motel) i was planning on cooking dinner for business partner based on what was on offer in the kitchen this really was not possible, dont get my wrong im not bitter at all, lovely appartment yet great views but the kitchen left me feeling it was done on the cheap for what i payed to be honest i did expect a fully functional kitchen, i could have filled out a complain card which was left in my room as they do encourge feedback from guest,

to the manager, i did love the appartment but just felt let down by only really having a half a kitchen, i do look forward to your feeback , my only complaint is about the kitchen, rest of the place lovely, nice massive pool 2 spas a couple of large grassed areas which was quite nice u didnt feel closed in at all, well done to the cleaners and staff that do make this place a lovely place to stay, only issue is the kitchen, would i stay again yes, maybe, its still good value for modern accomadation in mooloolaba lovely friendly staff, the room and the grounds are kept to the highest standards,

Dear monty_aus,

Thank you for your feedback and my sincere apologies for the delay in posting a response.
I am pleased that you thought the apartment was lovely, found the views to be amazing and enjoyed the little things like the full size mirror in the bathroom and the drain holes in the outdoor chairs.

I am regretul that you were dissapointed by the cooking facilities within the kitchens of the One Bedroom Apartments, as you discovered these kitchenette's dont have an oven or cooktop and I do agree that cooking options are inherently reduced as a result. I apologise that this was not brought to your attention prior to booknig and I understand the dissapointment you would have faced if expecting a full size kitchen. Our 2 & 3 bedroom apartments do have full size kitchens including oven's and cooktops, unfortunately the One Bedroom Apartments only have the portable hot plates and microwave oven.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall and I do hope we can welcome you back again in the future, please feel free to contact me directly at the resort to discuss these matters further.

Kind Regards
Ryan Newton
