We had a dinner at Darley's during our stay at Lilianfels. It was a special occasion and Darley's was the right place for formal fine dining.

Service was exactly as you expect in such places - quite formal, staff very accommodating, prompt and knowledgeable. It was obvious, every one was specially trained how to do their work.

Food. Very nice and unusual combination of flavours, Presentation is as expected at fine dining place. Great selection of accompanying wines.

Value for money. It is a most difficult question. In some other places similar dishes and, particularly, wine would cost you less. However, cost is not important when you are in fine dining.

After the dinner we felt absolutely great and it matters more that money spent.

While the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was without equal, our overall experience was quite average. The staff were accommodating enough, but there was no warmth or friendliness; our interactions felt too formal and sterile, leaving us feeling as though we were either being looked down on by snooty staff, or were simply being served by robots. The food was good, but not outstanding. Our experience was satisfactory, but nothing more.

I've been going to Darley's for decades now and it goes through stages according to which chef is in residence. It is one of the very few fine dining restaurants in the Blue Mountains. Stunning views go with the great menu and excellent wine choice. I find it strange they don't open for lunch. Personally I think it's best in the cold of winter so you can enjoy the warm fires. Current fave dish is the Toothfish, even if it's just for the accompanying story from the waiter.

My wife & I enjoyed the food but I was expecting a bit more given its reputation and "hatted" status. It is the type of restaurant menu that you would find in restaurants attached to similar 5 star hotels and food can't be faulted. Probably a bit over priced for what it is but to be expected when attached to a 5 star hotel.

The food and atmosphere was amazing. This not a place to go if you in a hurry. You sit enjoy a glass of wine and really take in the food
