“Echoes' Boutique Hotel & Restaurant ..... Not 5 stars-Amazing views”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The views from most rooms and location is outstanding. But I don't think this is a five star-Luxury Collection hotel. Very small bathroom, one small towel each, no desk in the room, one phone, limited Austar/Foxtel, breakfast is served to 10am on weekends-no later. The hotel restaurant-Echoes is very good but overpriced and charges $40 for a kids pasta and ice cream scoop dessert. Spirits from the bar and liquors are priced on the high side. A late check-out (one hour ) was appreciated. A very small, clean and well maintained hotel with free Wi-Fi. Parking can be difficult. No porter to assist with bags.

Room Tip: Only 14 rooms, all have amazing views.

We went here for dinner and although we had not booked, were immediately shown to a tabl with sensational views of the Blue Mountains. A lovely chef's starter arrived along with delicious home made bread. My husband adored his main course as did I which was barramundi. Everything was very well executed, perfectly cooked and accompanied by a fine white Australian wine. The only reason why the restaurant does not get 10/10 is because our waitress did not fill up our wine glasses but perhaps this is an Australian custom, i am unsure. The decor was unusual but worked well, with black curtains and wallpaper (patterned) and tables well spaced out. We had coffee in a cosy lounge area which I imagine would be even cosier in the winter with the fire on which is in the centre of the area.

Booked a last minute room at the Echoes Boutique Hotel for a 1 night stay in Feb (tip - book online through the hotel website, it's cheaper than contacting the hotel direct!). The views from the room were spectacular - could lie in bed and look at the view out of the picture windows. Hotel was not busy however there was still a lot of noise in corridor from hotel guests going to their rooms. Had a meal at the restaurant in the hotel and it was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Looking at some of the earlier reviews, we had some hesitation but really glad we booked regardless.. Of course its about the views and location, however, the rooms we found were also stylish and very comfortable.

The property is not a newly designed property,on the contrary, we were informed it was built 20 years ago to emulate the old historic homestead that gripped the cliffs edge some 80 years ago when it was originally built by a missionary nun. We were not looking for a contemporary designer experience, we were looking for a real piece of Blue Mountains heritage and that is what we got plus a whole lot more. It is a boutique property of only 14 rooms (which looked like they were recently refurbished) and a restaurant.

We were not seeking all the extras which were available anyway at Lilianfels, we were looking for an elegant hotel, spectacular setting and personal level of service. The attractions are all laid out infront of us as we soaked in the pristine air & sipped a lovely cocktail on the terrace decks. The sunset ofcourse is overwhelmingly beautiful.

Definitely recommended to understand why Blue Mountains is World Heritage listed.

Echoes is a decent enough hotel but it's not quite as 'in the mountains' as you might think from the photos as it as simply at the end of a mainly residential street. The view from the back terrace is stunning however.

We had an odd experience as our room was at the end beside the path to that same terrace meaning everyone walks past your window the entire time meaning we had to keep the curtains closed rendering the whole 'view' pointless.

The restaurant fare is excellent but the bar opening times etc are a bit limited and there are zero f and b options in the afternoons. The wine list is poor especially for a restaurant so trumpeted and badly needs more high end additions. We were unable to use the spa due to too many other bookings.
