Great location. Easy walking distance to Echo Point and the 3 sisters. Pleasant environment. Could do with a bit of a "spruce up". Beautiful Gardens and wonderful Day Spa offering great treatments by the "spa angels".

Room Tip: Request mountain/ resort view rooms

My husband booked the Indulgence Package for my birthday which included one nights B&B, dinner at either Echoes or Darley's and a massage treatment. We added on more treatments to the booking as a special treat. We also booked lunch in the lounge on our arrival.
When we got there, there wasn't any nice welcome to the hotel. The receptionist made some comment about our booking for dinner at Echoes, which confused us since our booking was for Darleys. We thought he'd made a mistake so left it. We made our way to our table, ordered food and were happy to be there.
The soup was good but the rest was all cold except for the chips on my husbands plate - it was pricey too!
We then checked in and we were happy with the room, it was nice, comfy, and they had bubbly and strawberries waiting which was lovely.
We went to the spa where the treatments were just ok - I was a bit annoyed about this because of lunch also being just ok. Was the trip turning a bit pear shaped?
I then decided to call reception about the confusion about our dinner. I explained that we had altered our booking and reserved a table at Darley's for 6.30 that evening. I explained that I had received the confirmation email back in December. She was so abrupt - No, the booking is with Echoes, there was not an inch of movement on it. I was absolutely gutted as I really wanted to go to Darley's - bear in mind it's April and we had booked back in November! I asked if Darley's was booked out and she said it was. There was zero apology for their mistake!! My husband went to reception with the confirmation booking but they still said no, there was a mistake and your booking is with Echoes! No apology.
The dinner at Echoes was tasty - but COLD! Again the only hot item was the chips!
We went back to the room, neither of us admitted to being disappointed because we didn't want to ruin it for one another.
The breakfast the next day was cold, and I mean cold. We ordered a flat white and had to pay an additional $5.50!
Overall, a nice location in need of a good lick of paint, most of the staff are not up to scratch - one of the receptionists almost ran to the door ahead of us so she didn't have to hold it open, and the food is seriously lacking.
The best part of the stay was the chocolate covered strawberries (I'm pregnant) and the fabulous pianist playing on the Saturday afternoon and night.
There is definitely not feel good vibe in the hotel, the staff look as disillusioned as I was. One young girl looked so sad. Others hadn't a clue what they were doing. There was very little customers there on the Saturday night.
Definitely not a five star hotel, but not quite a motel either!

Room Tip: Double and triple check that they have all your booking requirements - we were let down.

So so
Disappointing
Expensive for what we got
I must say I was looking forward to the high tea at Lilianfelds but mould in the berries ? and we had to ask for our coffee twice before it came out and by the time it came out we had finished
All 10 of us
Booring ....there seems to be a few establishments that have lost IT in the Blue Mountains

After our wedding we escaped to the Blue Mountains. Watching beautiful sunsets and walking to Wentworth Falls.

Lilianfels was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We had fun in the games room playing chess and pool. The decor was quaint and cottage like which added to the ambience. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities were clean.

The spa treatment was also professional and relaxing.

Travelers dream about finding a truly unique destination that Lilianfels delivers. The hotel group has preserved the best, high quality traditional and timeless features of this small hotel, while ensuring that higher-tech, newer features were provided. We loved the clearly-old pedestal sink, traditional prints and toile wallpaper. And, we were glad to have free wifi, ample outlets and a very nice selection of bath products and other amenities. Our ample valley view room was very quiet, but I don't think the hotel was full. This might have helped us with wifi speed too. The lobby always seemed to be filled with diners, and afternoon tea and lunch seemed to be very popular with tourists or local visitors.

Do ask for a valley view room - well worth whatever premium paid.

The staff were intent on providing excellent service, something we found throughout our travels in Australia and New Zealand though, so we are not sure this was unique to Lilianfels. However, we did have several instances in the lobby lounge and Orangery where mistakes were made in our orders. It happened with enough regularity that we felt it important to mention, but our order in Darley's was perfect. I don't fault the staff, because I have learned that some of the requests may be due to translation terms. For example, I requested "peppers" in my egg-white omelette and I received chili peppers, not green peppers, as I intended. Frankly, it was delicious so I did not complain. But, for American travelers, it might make sense to reconfirm the correct terminology before assuming the order was filled incorrectly.

The setting of Lilianfels is absolutely breathtaking and the weather changed enough during our two days to enjoy an ever-changing valley. We loved how clouds settled into the valley in the morning and lifted mid-day to reveal remarkable vistas and colors. Simply beautiful. Do go next door and see the view from sister-hotel Echoes Point. The view from the terrace upstairs is not to be missed.

Room Tip: Request a valley view room and visit the Echoes Boutique Terrace next door
