“Gourmet pizza”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

Was recommended this spot by our hosts at Vine Valley Inn. As we were looking for a light dinner, we opted to share a pizza instead of eating at the restaurant. The restaurant menu looked rather interesting, there's also a 6 course degustation option at $90 per pax.
Pizzas cost about $18- $20. Interesting choices of toppings, we chose one with beef and pumpkin.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

I have eaten at this restaurant about half a dozen times in the past 18 months or so, the most recent occasion being just before Christmas when I sampled their Christmas menu (with complimentary bonbons!).

On most visits I have been with a group of friends, and I have to say that every time, everyone has been blown away by the quality of the food, standard of service and overall experience.

The unexpected presentation (white tablecloths, simple but elegant furnishings) in the room at the back of the pub; the comfortable lounge area where you can wait before (or rest after); the diverse choice of dishes across the whole menu that presents you with difficult decisions - all combine to deliver a memorable evening.

The soft shell crab and the duck are always popular and taste divine, but I have savoured every dish I have had there.

As a bonus, if you are going to see an evening show at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (also well worth a visit) just across the road, if you book for an early meal and let the staff know, they will make sure you are served your meals in good time.

“As good as it seems to be”
Reviewed 19 December 2013 via mobile

I'll happily join the chorus celebrating this place. Very good food in a pleasant ambience (those who complain about seeing the kitchen should reflect on how the food arrives at their table before complaining about seeing it prepared) with friendly well informed service. There is a quality range of local wines by the glass which are well priced.

All I could fine to critisise was a bean that should not have been allowed to be served (a bit grey and soft on one end) and a typo on the menu which means overall it was all good

“lovely food but lady in cafe unpleasant”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Been here several times and food is quite nice, probably the best you will find in Cessnock. Food is a little inconsistent though eg. Granola sometimes comes with rhubarb, sometimes not. Only negative is the lady in the cafe (maybe owner), is really unpleasant. Not very nice and sometimes acts like she's doing you a favor by serving you, which is unprofessional, especially if you are a returning customer.

“Superb pizzas”
Reviewed 26 November 2013 via mobile

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. That good, no grease, perfect. Also staff were very friendly and setting is very cosy.
