Luxury accommodation in Queenstown

What a wonderful experience. Penghana is a 19th century mansion overlooking Queenstown. We stayed two nights in the Owens Room. It is a spacious and luxurious room with a separate dressing room leading to the bathroom. Our hosts, Steve and Karen were so friendly and nothing was too hard for them. Breakfast in the morning was silver service and lovely. It was the little things that really made our stay so enjoyable - access to an upstairs lounge, fruit cake on arrival, a carafe of port in the room, making a booking for us at Mimso Restaurant, etc. We thoroughly recommend Penghana for luxury accommodation.

We recall your first visit was on a budget some 40 years ago, when the hills were bare. Pleased we've sent you away this time with very different memories.
We pride ourselves on assisting our guests to have the best tourist experiences on offer (and we have several with national award winning tags) and to steer our guests towards the best dining experiences.... some quirky!

Penghana Bed & Breakfast is a magnificent place to stay with so much local history attached. We have stayed there 5 times as a group and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Steve and Karen are perfect hosts, who cater for your every need. Great views of the surrounding area, it is breathtaking. The house has been beautifully decorated, with impeccable attention to detail. The beds are extremely comfortable and provide a great nights sleep. Having breakfast in the dining room is a highlight: the food and service is first class. I would rate this accommodation 6 stars if I could.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us. It is most appreciated. We love hosting your group and spoiling you.
Sorry the weather didn't look after you this time and limited your love of driving our winding roads, but pleased you all took the opportunity to experience the Wilderness Railway and were overwhelmed by where it took you and the quality of what the trip provides. Queenstown has other surprises for another time too.

Our stay at Penghana in Queenstown was one of the highlights of our road trip across Tasmania. Steve & Karen were the friendliest and warmest hosts you could ever hope for. Their knowledge of the immediate area is also second to none. The house itself is fascinating and has an amazing history. Steve's cooked breakfasts are also amazing! The best hash browns in Tasmania! In summary, if you want to stay in Queenstown in style then look no further. We will never forget our stay here. Highly recommended.

Penghana Bed & Breakfast exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived at the stunning, historically rich mansion, we were impressed by the attention to detail. Steve and Karen are exceptional hosts, offering silver service and unmatched generosity, which made our stay truly memorable. Their hospitality left a lasting impression, and we can’t recommend this place enough. You won’t regret it!

P.S. – Be sure to try the fruit cake – it’s a must!

Room tip: If we had our time over again, we’d stay for longer.

Thank you kyanleem for your words of praise. You taking the time to review your stay with us is one thing appreciated, but putting your experience here down in detail is just sensational.

We do strive to ensure we give our guests a wonderful stay. Our fruit cake is famous ...... and every December we do a tally of how many we made since we purchased the business back in 2015. December 2023 the tally was 604.....watch this space for December 2024 number!

My fourth visit to Queenstown, each time staying 3 nights at Penghana, lived up to all expectations. This time I was accompanied by my brother and sister who were most impressed by the accommodation provided in this most historic mansion overlooking Queenstown. The facilities, top class fittings & furniture are beyond expectations of a home of this age. Karen and Steve are great hosts providing a beautiful breakfast served on the finest china in the formal dining room. We enjoyed the comfort of the shared sitting room adjacent to our rooms on the upper floor, and the materials and local tips provided by our hosts to make the most of our visit out west.

Room tip: Plan to stay for 2 or 3 nights to make the most of your visit to Queenstown. There is so much to do and see by day but few after dark.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at Penghana. It exceeded our expectations. It is obvious why this opulent house is a National Trust listing. The hosts, Karen and Steve, are knowledgeable, passionate and accommodating. The breakfasts are legendary. The hosts' attention to detail makes for a comfortable, memorable and enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend.

Room tip: A must stay in Queenstown.
