It’s not just a stay, its an experience!

It was an unplanned stay and they have changed my entire perspective on bed and breakfasts. From the welcome and the service provided my entire stay, to the quality of the room and the history of the home. It was absolutely magnificent! I fell in love with Queenstown due to my experience here

Thank you for your comments. Yes Queenstown is easy to 'fall in love with'. One has to look beyond some of its exterior and realise its remoteness, the attraction of that quality and its limitations. We appreciate it isn't for everyone but it has so much going for it - no humidity, affordable housing, 4 seasons, is a very safe destination, has outstanding natural beauty, an amazing history, genuine people from all walks of life, lots of business opportunities, the cleanest air and award winning tourism experiences and here at Penghana we get to meet such interesting people from all over the world and the mainland every day of the week. Yes we enjoy spoiling our guests and giving you much more than a place to stay, - an experienc.

We recently had a 3 night stay at the beautiful Penghana House. We booked the 2 bedroom self contained section of the house as this suited our needs. The room was perfect having a kitchenette and lounge dinning area which allowed us to self cater with snacks and drinks etc. We love to do that when we travel. Lots of appliances and the plunger coffee supplied in the room was a life saver at breakfast after having drained the complimentary port the night before. The property is well located to Queenstown central with a short walk to most of the attractions and shopping on offer. Our hosts Karen and Steve could not have been more friendly. Their knowledge on the history of the house and the area was unlimited. They recommended dinning venues and booked them for us as well which was great. The Empire Hotel was good but the food at the Gold Rush Inn ( Mimso Kitchen)on the edge of town was fantastic. Would recommend this stay to all.

Thank you for your review and kind words. We really enjoyed meeting you and spending time with you on your last evning helping you finish off the supplies you had brought for the trip!!!!
We appreciate your comments as they certainly assist others when considering where to stay and what they might expect and/or require of their accommodation. We agree, food at Mimso's Kitchen is outstanding.
Again thank you for choosing Penghana B&B.

This was a very welcome change after a series of anonymous motels. It's a high-quality place with lots of really classy touches, and the care with which the room had been prepared made it feel very welcoming - which added to the genuine welcome of the owners. It was once the "Grand House" of the area, and this shows in the quality of the house and the rooms. We were actually headed for Strahan, but got the impression that most of the accommodation there is glossy and touristy, so we decided to stay in Queenstown, and drive over to Strahan as a day-trip. We were glad we did.

Steve and Karen host a truly unique B&B experience in an amazing National Trust home. Perched on top of the town Penghana House seems imposing but is warm and friendly inside. Lovely food, great service and excellent accommodation. We had a great couple of nights here to enjoy the region

The apartment is ideal for four. Spotlessly clean and lovely touches included a decanter of port! Steve gave an amusing tour and he & Karen were very readily available if needed (so friendly & helpful). We wholeheartedly recommend to others (just as we had been).

Room tip: Queenstown is well worth exploring and the heritage centre in Zeehan is well worth the trip.

The title says it …. From the moment we arrived it felt special and different, we felt we were part of history.
On arrival we were provided with a tour and some of the history of this incredible property.
Steve and Karen were the prefect hosts, made us feel very welcome and special.
The property has a licensed bar so we could sit outside and admire the view with a drink.
Rooms very well appointed and very quiet and comfortable. We also had a small lounge and kitchen shared with two other rooms, great to relax with a glass of port of a cup of tea.
The highlight of course being breakfast, home made yogurt and poached pears, home baked bread and a cooked breakfast for champions.
Many thanks to Steve and Karen for an amazing stay.

Room tip: You simply have to go and stay you will be impressed

Thank you for your words of praise. We love to hear that our guests feel welcome and special.
That upstairs lounge sees many a glass of port and cups of tea as well as light snacks instead of going out for dinner.
Again thank you for supporting small business on the West Coast.
