Locked out of most of the advertised amenities, and owner nice till I complained, super rude.

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Sept 2021
Booked for 4 days. On arrival was informed no access to the main house, deck (with views) pool etc. When I pointed out the hotel listing states pool etc I was arrogantly told "no you are mistaken". When I demonstrated the site the owner said "if you look at the room you picked there is no photo of the pool in the room". It turns out the main house was booked out to one group of travellers and they requested no other guests have access.

The room was ok, basic...air con not working, the managers general suggestion was turn it on and off, when I pointed out this was still not working, the manager pretty was like oh well and started ignoring us.
Finally we had a cab service booked a few hours after check out, I had initially assumed as the guest house services were advertised we would hang by the pool and leave the bags at reception, but no we were instructed to leave at checkout exactly.

The owner was nice till he wasn't and then he was just downright petty and uninterested in offering what was listed on the site or resolving problems.

After unexpectedly being locked out of Townsville due to COVID, we found ourselves scrambling to find accommodation for 9 people, and came across Pete's place...what a find!
Pete was brilliant from the word go, answering all our txt messages promptly, and happily accommodating all our needs. He greeted us on our arrival and couldn't have been more helpful - terrific fellow!
The house was fantastic - airy, bright, modern, spotlessly clean, with a huge deck and verandahs off all 4 bedrooms, all with THE BEST VIEWS! The perfect place to relax and enjoy the ever-changing moods of the ocean, its islands, and the surrounding hills. Ensuite and air-conditioning in each of the bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen - the only recommendation would be larger/more couches (only seating for 4) but there were plenty of dining chairs, outdoor seating and kitchen stools to sit on!
Cannonvale and Airlie Beach are both within a short drive (or walk if you're keen!), but the position of the house itself has you well out of the hustle and bustle, in peaceful surroundings.
Would absolutely recommend staying here!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite, it was 3 times as big as any room you'd want. Large bath and shower, plus a spa bath outside on the deck, to enjoy sunset spa and wine.

Our host Peter was fantastic, super helpful and couldn't have done more for us.

Great views and close to a shopping centre, including the suggested locals pub Banjo's, with great food and cocktails.

Close to coral sea resort and marina for sailing trips and jetski tours, less than 5 mins from town.

Ask Peter to tell you the backstory of the main house 😉 it contains love, lust, betrayal and great wealth, or make up your own story of how this house kickstarted Frank Walker with National Tiles, as it has floor to ceiling tiles.

Superior value.

Pete is awesome, great views and lovely modern houses.
Well furnished, comfortable and breath taking views.

Look one way and you're faced with a stunning forest, and the other direction has the beautiful blue sea.

Views are the best you can have - so quiet & away from the hustle & bustle of Main St. The setting is perfect. Great value for money & can sit & watch sunrise/ sunset with the majestic view of the fabulous Whitsundays but wouldnt want to walk to the top of the hill! Thanks Pete!

My wife an I are Brits and we had a 2 week roadtrip booked to Queensland - starting in early May 2020. We had our flights booked (since Oct 2019) and we had pre booked various accommodations in QLD - including this place for a few nights. The booking conditions were that it we cancelled after a set date in March 2020 then there would be a cancellation fee equal to the full cost of the accommodation charge. Due to COVID19 the UK warned against all non essential travel outside the UK + Australia introduced a mandatory 14 day self isolation for arrivals into Australia. Both these announcements were issued AFTER the cut off date for our cancellation charge. We duly cancelled - what else could we do???? Pete the owner has duly charged our credit card with the A$ 317 cancellation fee - TWICE. Yes, twice - so a cancellation fee of A$317 has turned into A$634. This has wiped out a refund from another accommodation in QLD that had quite rightly issued a refund to us - and leaves us with a debit balance on our credit card. My wife has spoken on the phone to Pete ( calling from the UK) TWICE explaining what has happened and urgently requesting refunds. Each time he has said he will look into and e- mail us. We have heard nothing back from him despite chasing. What an awful attitude from him - we had NO OPTION but to cancel - he has not empathy for our situation. Unbelievable attitude from him - charged a cancellation TWICE when, given the circumstances, he shouldn't have even charged it once. Due to his refusal to communicate with us we now have to contact our credit card company and the Australian authorities.
