The location of this spot is superb-the view of our double room was the best we have experienced in the Airlie Beach location. The room was clean albeit a little small. The room is part of an apartment which is shared between 4 double rooms. The apartment was gorgeous and again spotless. There was a bbq which could be used too which we enjoyed on the night we stayed. We did have a fairly decent night sleep although were woken up very early by people banging and cooking in the kitchen-this was very annoying as we we're jet lagged-people didn't seem to appreciate the courtesy of staying in a shared location. We went to use the shared facilities in the main house such as the wifi, pool table and pool however the reception desk (a table and chairs) was placed directly in front of the pool and the manager sat here the whole time we were there. For this reason we didn't want to use the pool as it felt a little weird to enjoy the facility with the manager right infront of us. The next day we had an afternoon flight and the manager allowed us to check out and use tyhe facilities in the main house until our transfer to the airport came. The house is up a large hill and whilst we waited for our transfer we were not informed that we had to wait down the hill for our bus, as a result we ended up missing our transfer. The manager spent a lot of time on the phone so as our transfer was trying to call the retreat he could not get through. We ended up having to pay for a taxi and got to the airport 10 mins before the check in closed. The manager tried his best to sort this but it could have been resolved with a little more communication. Overall a fairly pleasant stay for one night but we wouldn't return.

Get that room for the view, astonishing!
Warm welcome, efficient and friendly.
The place is hard to find up on that hill but when there, it's relaxing.

Full of wild life around you, great patio with BBQ. Share it with up to 3 other couples. New design, fully equipped kitchen.

Room a bit small and mattresses could get better but overall satisfied.

This so called Rainforest Retreat is Rainforest Hell.
Nothing like they advertise on their web site, and unless your a Mountain Goat, and like the idea of walking up Mount Everest do yourselves a favour and opt for something closer to Town.

If you like being in share accommodation with just a room to yourself, and sharing the kitchen and TV with 3 other couples with hardly any other privacy, then maybe just book into a Caravan Park as the rates will be much cheaper, and you won't lose 5 days accommodation deposit and balance like we did.

There are much nicer Units with better views closer to Town at better prices, so don't get caught short, and shop around Town, and definitely inspect what is available before giving anyone your credit card details.

Management response:Responded 6 September 2016

Hi TexDex. Sorry it's taken a while to respond to your Review but I didn't know who you are by your name and as you actually didn't even stay at our Retreat I was surprised that Tripadvisor even allowed your Review to remain up. If they were doing the right thing for all possible future guests they would only include Reviews that are based on actual experience rather than a Blackmail Review because you chose to cancel on the day of your arrival and demanded the return of your deposit. All hotels retain the first nights tariff as a deposit and do not refund it at such short notice. I showed your threat of a Bad Review to Tripadvisor but they ignored it which I feel is incorrect as the whole tone of your Review is obvious that you desire to damage our Operation.
Texdex, we do advise everyone we are on the side of the hill and that's why we have such magnificent panoramic views of the Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands. Any car can manage it and once you arrive it is all level access to your Lodge. We do tell everyone their rooms are within a Lodge that has 4 bedrooms all equipped with your own toilet, shower, vanity and tea/coffee making facilities. You only share the kitchen and bbq on the deck if you so chose to (a free added benefit you don't receive in most other Hotels). As for value, you are receiving a magnificent New, Clean and Private room with these views for under $50 per person per night. The Backpackers on the main street aren't that cheap. I'm sorry TexDex but I really do ask that you do look at the Hotel cancellation policies before Blackmailing any other Hotel Manager in the future. That is not the reason for facilities like Tripadvisor or the Booking.com Review Facility. Take care. Pete

For about 100SGD, accommodation like this is like winning a lottery. The view, location, price and service (Peter gave us a very warm welcome - @ the reception/owner) are all at its BEST. We've had one of the rooms in a 4-room villa (ours was the blue villa) Its one of the 4 newly built villas as an extension of the hotel. Each villas has kitchen, living room, private veranda and a shared veranda. In my opinion, the blue villa is THE VILLA because there's nothing but Airlie Beach view and forest view to fully enjoy. At the shared veranda, there's barbecue grill free for every guests to use. Rooms are of decent size - every guests' needs is provided. For the ladies, YES! Hair dryer is available, too. Probably something good to request if possible is the room number. Judging from our blue villa, rooms 1,3 & 4 should be the ones that offer the best view. If not, at least all 1,3 & 4 rooms in the "blue villa" will definitely NOT disappoint. Finally, checking out is hazzle free. Just leave your key at the door of your room and that's it. Another thing i love about Rainforest Retreat, lots of trusts with the guests! Btw, we've even extended another night simply because we love it so much 💋
