“Understated luxury in the tropics”

My husband and I, along with our 2 young boys (5 and 2) stayed at Figtree House for a week. We were in Palm Cove for a catch up with extended family, and to support my brother during the Ironman Championships.

What a great base! A short bike ride (see my other review) along the boardwalk to the beach, fantastically private with rainforest running along one side and a creek/park along another, and excellent layout for entertaining. We had family over a couple of times, and the fully equipped outdoor kitchen and BBQ was put to good use.

The house is pavilion style, with living spaces and bedrooms separate - we took the master suite with four poster bed while our kids shared the second master suite with a lush rainforest outlook. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out in, and ceiling fans plus air conditioning ensured maximum comfort, especially on humid nights.

Use of the gym facilities at the nearby Oceans Edge Health Club topped of a fun and active stay.

If I was to fault anything, it would be that the gutters needed cleaning to prevent build up of leaves - even the slightest rainfall resulted in some flooding to the internal decking, which became slippery and quite hazardous, especially for small children. This was mentioned to the agent upon leaving, who was readying this to the owner. A coffee plunger would also be a nice addition, especially given the high spec fitout of the kitchen.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to others. Great location far enough from the action yet flies enough to be a part of it, very well appointed, quite and a real hidden oasis.
