It's hard to find the right words to describe our experience in Faraway Bay but sublime does spring to mind, as does awe. What we were fortunate to see and experience without the crowds of other places we have been, and tours we have done, makes the price you pay to stay at Faraway Bay worth every cent. The owners Kathie and Kevin are a formidable team, from the detailed information Kathie provides when you book, and Kevin with his knowledge of the area and magnificent cooking. We had too many experiences rich in environmental beauty and serenity, and aboriginal rock art, including the mysterious Bradshaws, to list here, and there was still more that we just couldn't pack into three days. If you have to choose one place to go in the Kimberley, go to Faraway Bay. We'll be back for a Wet Season experience. Thanks Kevin and Kathie!

We write in praise of our Faraway Bay experience. We spent four days there enjoying the 2017 Rock Art Retreat. We have a long standing interest in Rock Art and a deep love of remote landscapes, both gathered over a decade of bush camping. But Faraway Bay exceeded our expectations by a long way. We've never enjoyed anything like it before. It truly is unique in what it provides and in the vivid memories you leave with. The location is stunningly beautiful. On the edge of the continent, one 180 degree vista is the azure Timor Sea with its dazzling colour changes between dawn and dusk. The alternate 180 degree vista is of the rugged Kimberley Plateau with its red rocks piled high under blue skies. The accomodation is simple and functional: everything works. In the communal dining room, and out in the bush, you enjoy fabulous meals provided by a professional chef and his delightful staff, who are ever considerate of your every wish or need. All this while dolphins lazily tour the Bay, a five metre crocodile suns itself on a nearby sandbank, and an inquisitive spotted quoll gambols close by. A chalk board message summarises their goal: "At Faraway Bay, a few days can feel like a week, and a week can change the way you feel forever." We found Faraway Bay to be uniquely enjoyable and greatly enriching.

Room Tip: Every cabin is located to provide synoptic views of the Bay and within tens of metres of the Eagles Nest dining room.

My husband and I spent 4 days at the bush camp, faraway bay. It was an adventure to explore the waterways and bush of the Kimberley ranges. Our host, Kevin, showed us the secret crocodile-free waterholes, the magnificent rock art, the best fishing spots and the untouched magnificence of the western coastline. Additional bonuses on this trip included 3 course chef prepared meals, a spa overlooking the bay, a plunge pool and accommodation which allowed guests to lie in bed and see and hear the ocean. So glad we went while the wilderness is still largely unspoiled and untouched. If you are a bit fit, prepared to do some bushwalking and rock climbing and swim in waterholes in magic places, then this is for you. If you require silver service, elevators, and 5-star hotel amenities, then it is not for you.

Room Tip: Guest have self-contained bungalows with views to the ocean.

Glad you enjoyed your FAB experience Carol and Sam, after the huge wet season you picked a perfect time to visit and got to visit some amazing water holes. It is pretty special to visit all the remote, untouched, non-commercialized areas in our backyard and we love to share it. Many thanks for your great company.

Our previous experiences in the Kimberley region have always been in The Dry with our 4WD and us coated in its stunning red dust. We had promised ourselves that one day we would experience it during or just after The Wet.

On March 15 we set off not by 4WD but by air instead to fulfil this promise. The last leg of these flights was from Kununurra to Faraway Bay on March 16. Wes, the Kimberley Air pilot, provided us with a casual and informative commentary throughout the flight and a true appreciation for the isolated remoteness of our destination soon became apparent. Finally, for us, we were in the Kimberley at the tail end of The Wet.

After being greeted by Kevin and Gemma at the airstrip, we began the 4WD transfer to Faraway Bay. Our first distant view of the bay from the 4WD was so beautiful but it became postcard perfect when viewed from Eagle Lodge.

This was the beginning of what was to be a truly amazing week of breathtaking waterfalls, stunning swimming holes, thought provoking rock art, fishing and wildlife spotting.

Each day delivered pleasures for the taste buds with a wide choice of breakfast options, an array of muffins and slices, freshly prepared meals for lunch tailored to activities and beatifully presented restaurant quality evening meals all made onsite.

The simply furnished cabin was meticulously clean and featured small luxuries like a coffee maker, water chiller, evaporative cooler and ensuite toilet which made it quite comfortable.

While the experiences at Faraway Bay were all we had hoped it would be, wet season storm one night included, it was the genuinely friendly atmosphere created by Kevin, Gemma, Bec and Margaret as well as the comfortable and interesting evening conversations that made this trip special.

Now, we will have to come back to see this slice of paradise in The Dry as well. Kerri and Steve.

Great trip!
We had a very relaxing 5 days out at Faraway bay. We were looked after so well with delicious food, friendly hosts and were kept comfortable in our ocean view cabins with outdoor showers! We caught Barramundi, saw manta rays jumping and turtles sticky beaking. Good family time with my husbands family :-) If you are a nature lover you will love Faraway bay. Kevin & Gemma absolutely spoiled us. I particularly loved the sparking wine at champagne Rock + sunset. What a treat!
Cheers!!
