This is the only camping/ caravan park to stay in Kununurra. Friendly owners, lots of space, nice low key park. Plenty of amenities and nice surroundings. The other parks in town were snobby and unfriendly towards us.

We arrived in Kununurra without a booking and found that Hidden Valley was the cheapest caravan park in town. We stayed out the back in the unpowered camping area, where we were able to find a place that suits and set up (no marked camping bays). The area was large and grassy and even though there were a lot of people there it didn't feel crowded. Some of the reviews we read were critical of the number of permanent residents, or backpackers in the camping area, but we found both elements to add to the comfortable, homey feeling of the park. For the most part the backpackers were camped at one end and the tourists at the other.

The amenities were well looked after - the toilets near the camping area were ensuite style, each cubicle had a toilet and shower and were quite roomy. In the powered campsite area were more traditional amenity blocks, and the laundry which was pretty spacious. The camp kitchens were open walled with a roof, had kettles and toasters and microwave, sinks and power points, and picnic tables to sit at, they were quite adequate.

The pool was amazing, we had a couple of rest days while we were in Kununurra and the kids spent all day in the pool. It had a tropical look and feel and was a great place to hang out.

The national park is right behind the caravan park, with lots of walks available, and the beautiful red cliffs creating a lovely backdrop to our stay, especially near sunset where they lit up spectacularly.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of information about the area available at the front desk, and tours and activities can be booked from here too. They also had a book exchange.

Room Tip: Camp out in the free range camping area for a relaxed stay

This is a great park with lots of green grass and plenty of water. The new owners of only 4 months are really doing a great job of getting this park looking great. We will definitely be back on our return trip from Broome
