Lake Argyle Cruises are located just behind the caravan site (who we booked through). My partner and I rented a two-person kayak and paddled around part of Lake Argyle which is absolutely stunning. It was a great way to go exploring and we spotted a freshie in the water and wallabies on the small island in the middle! There were a few places to pull up and go for a paddle. It was so peaceful down there, I would definitely recommend it!
Try the Sunset boat cruise. We were driving around and just happened to see his sign on side of road and decided that we would see if there were any available seats. This was the absolute best decision we made. Couldn't have asked for more. Matt was amazing with his knowledge of the local area and history of the Lake. Both he and Greg both made everyone welcome and could not do enough to make the trip comfortable and enjoyable. The highlight, I think, was swimming around the boat with nibbles floating around on an esky lid watching the sun go down. Will definitely do the cruise again next time we are in Lake Argyle/Kununurra area.
My family spent the afternoon with Greg on his Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise yesterday and can honestly say it was one of the best afternoons I have ever had. From seeing Rock Wallabies, Freshwater crocs, hundreds of fish, reflections on the lake -wow it was great.
We also enjoyed our swimming in the lake and enjoying a glass of sparkly in the water is definitely something we will remember forever. Greg was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and his local knowledge and experience shone through. Thank you Lake Argyle Cruises we will be recommending you to all our visitors to the Kimberley.
Thank you for your comments Abby.
With 18 years here at Lake Argyle, hopefully my knowledge of the area allows me to answer most questions.
The great temperature in the water makes the Sunset Swim an experience most people remember for a long time!
We had the Sunset Cruise recommended to us by other travellers, and fortunately we took their advice. We were picked up at the Lake Argyle Resort for the quick drive down to the jetty. The friendly, and very knowledgeable banter started as soon as the bus did, and continued throughout the cruise. The modern, comfortable boat allowed great views, and the whole cruise had a marvellous, relaxed feel about it. We weaved around islands I didn't know existed, pulled in to have a look at wildlife on some, looked at schools of fish that surrounded the boat off others, and just admired the scenery. On the way back in we stopped someway off shore and then it was into the Lake for those that wished to. Flotation aids were provided, and these made it easier to not spill your provided beer or wine while floating around in the warm water. Watching the sun set while in the water was a memory that will last a loooong time. Once out of the water, there were more drinks and nibbles available. What a great tour, don't consider it, just do it.
The sunset boat tour was an absolute highlight of our 6-weeks-through-WA-holidays. Owner Greg is enthusiastic, friendly, laidback and a source of interesting knowledge. Told us so much about the lake itself, Durack family and the local wildlife. And seriously - bubbles and beer and crackers with dips while swimming in the lake (simultaneously!), could life get any better! Great tour, great value, loved every minute of it!
We took our 2 young children with us on the sunset cruise on lake argyle. We loved every bit of it Greg was very knowledgable and showed us a great afternoon on the lake. The kids were well catered for and were free to move around the boat. Would highly recommend this cruise and your company to anyone wanting something to do around kununurra.
