Lake Argyle is one of the most beautiful places in the world, in my opinion. I have been on two... read more
Matt and Greg hosted a great afternoon out on the lake. Matt is a wealth of knowledge on the lake, the wildlife and the area generally.
Do yourself a favour and hire a canoe to do some solo exploring. You'll then get a shot at jumping off a rock ledge into the lake from heights of 10 to 15 meters. Great fun.
The Lake Argyle Resort also offer cruises and if you are staying there the staff will pitch that cruise, and not those of Lake Argyle cruises (who have brochures at reception).
I understand that Matt and Greg from Lake Argyle Cruises each have 8 years experience running cruises on the lake. I dont think the resort can offer this experience. The resort cruises looked a tad commercial and touristy.
Thank you for your kind comments. It's great to hear you enjoyed the sunset cruise - we do have highly experienced guides. It's also fantastic that you took advantage of the canoe hire and had fun at jump rock!
Visitors to Australia should try and include the Kimberley region of North West Australia. The colours are magnificent, the skies so blue. Our Sunset cruise on the amazing man-made Lake Argyle included four hours of amazing colour, vanishing horizons and many freshwater crocodiles. The Sunset was pretty good too.
My partner and I did a sunset cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had the best of everything- a fabulous guide-Greg- with over 15yrs experience- telling us about the history of the lake, the wildlife and surrounding areas. We cooled off with a sunset swim and beer and champagne. Make sure you book the cruise that is separate from the caravan park. Same price but this one has all the knowledge and experience
We did the sunset cruise and it was a memorable experience. The skipper, Matt, was one of the best tour guides I have come across. Matt was very friendly and gave a great account about Lake Argyle and its history.
We did the 2 hour morning cruise that departed at 8am. The office is a short walk from the Lake Argyle Resort. $70 per person.
Matt our guide was very knowledgeable about the areas history, wildlife and other local attractions and was able to answer all questions.
A beautiful cruise on a stunning Lake and we had a lot of fun 'feeding' the archer fish.
Well worth the experience.
Having done the wonderful sunset cruise with Greg from Lake Argyle Cruises previously and thoroughly enjoyed it, this time we opted for a canoeing experience instead to balance up some of the pancakes consumed earlier! With a friend we headed off to the Lake Argyle Cruises office to pick up our life jackets, paddles and a map before heading down to the boat ramp where our canoe was already waiting for us. We set off across the beautiful lake, with the stunning hills in the back ground, heading for one of the islands and pulled our canoe up onto a small beach for a rest and a swim. The water was a perfect temperature for swimming and it was very peaceful; just the thing for a Sunday afternoon. We were wishing we'd brought along some snacks as we'd worked up quite an appetite. Lake Argyle is definitely a must during any visit to the Kimberley. Contact Greg at Lake Argyle Cruises.
