We had the best carvery ever here, I’ve also eaten here in the evening as well and food and service was amazing, would highly recommend this for best food around. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful so can enjoy a little walk too ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not sure about all the old vehicles littering the grounds they did nothing to enhance what was a pleasant location, that apart our suite was spacious, well maintained and clean if at the top of two narrow staircases, not a room for those with mobility issues!
The absence of a fire escape was also unnerving but presumably it has passed all regs.
The restaurant whilst quite pricey served up some pleasant food but the “icing” on the cake for me were the young ladies providing bar and restaurant service, all very pleasant and efficient, such a refreshing change to meet a what appears to be a happy team.

We stayed for one night having an evening meal in the restaurant. Their principle of all food sourced within 20 miles is evident in its quality and taste. So delicious that we had 3 courses and were absolutely stuffed at the end.

A full English breakfast the next day was equally as tasty and again, very filling.

The wheelchair accessible room is a good size and clear to move around easily. The walk in shower has a seat to transfer into and a rainfall shower head gushing load of the lovely soft water for a good shower. One minus point is that the cottage rooms are up an incline with some a lot of stones that may hinder progress in a wheelchair but I am sure that as they continue to improve the site, this will be addressed.

The rooms are a few minutes from the restaurants and bar but we were blessed with late autumn sun.

The staff were all very helpful and chatty and complemented a wonderful stay.

Well recommended.

We had been here before and were looking forward to returning. We were deeply disappointed by the attitude and lack of attention to detail.
The towel rail was not hot and heating in the room was off although it was a cool evening. When we asked for this to be sorted out it was not done until after we had dinner. Dinner was delicious but a wine list with only 4 white and 4 red???
Breakfast had no fresh orange juice and when we asked for coffee the waitress came back after a while to say that the coffee machine was broken ..... when we asked downstairs we were told that it had been broken for a few days and there was no alternative.
No apology just a reminder to drop the key at reception.
For a bill of £226 we were unimpressed

Room Tip: Best rooms are in the main hotel building.

Dear KimSB2911,
Thank you for your comments but I am afraid we must question the accuracy and gratuitous innuendo implied.
The heating was indeed not on. We have experienced the hottest period for many years and on the evening in question the ambient temperature was well in excess of the norm. Your assertion that, after your request, the heating was not actioned until after your return from dinner is incorrect and the computer in the boiler room confirms the actual moment it was instigated. I will however vouchsafe that it takes a little while for the heating to flow through our large complex.
I am pleased to note you found dinner delicious but again, your assertion that there was no alternative to the speciality coffee you requested at breakfast is palpably incorrect. I have interviewed Beth, a very loyal and diligent member of staff, and she confirms that you initially had a pot of tea at breakfast and then further requested a cappuccino. Our speciality coffee machine was indeed out of order so Beth offered you a fresh filter coffee but you declined.
With regard to your mention of a bill of £226 this again proffers a totally erroneous impression. Your room bill was £108, an extremely attractive rate for a superior room including full English breakfast for two. The remainder of your bill (which more than doubled the price you paid for your room) was made up as follows: bar £19, dinner £56 (which you said was delicious) wine £40 and £3 for a Racing Post (and Daily Mail) which, because of your request late in the evening, necessitated me taking an 18 mile round trip to Yeovil at 6:30am the morning of your departure to source the Racing Post, visiting three newsagents before I could obtain a copy.
We welcome constructive criticism and our huge success in the past twenty years bears witness in no small part to the herculean efforts of our staff. It is however very hurtful when fallacious comments are made and we are equally unimpressed. We are nevertheless disappointed that you were apparently unhappy with your visit.
Yours sincerely,

Midweek booking, two nights in a Superior room. Room very comfortable, super king size bed, large bathroom and verywell fitted out. Breakfast was great, full english, evening meal was lovely too. Staff very friendly and attentative. We took our dogs, they were made very welcome.

The building and grounds are fantastic with heaps of history, The Tithe Barn is a fantastic venue for functions.

I have read many of the negative reviews and find it hard to belive they are true. We will certainly be going back,

Thank you to all the staff.

Dear John C,

Thank you sincerely for your kind comments. We have been here over twenty years, have wonderful staff and it's great to receive such an unqualified testimonial. Inevitably we get the very occasional adverse review but we continue to strive for perfection!
