We had a great stay of 12 days in March/April and we loved the cottage. It was surrounded by cherry, almond, olive and fig trees. All the wildflowers were in bloom including my favourite Fuxardia. Perfect early morning rambles about the terraces. The cottage was well decorated, well tiled and had very nice old wooden doors. The beds were clean and comfy. The bathroom small but fine
My only complaints were that there was no oven or grill and only two rings. This did make cooking for the three of us difficult. We couldn't cook outside on the barbeques every night as it was sometimes chilly, not always time after a day out and barbeque food is ok occasionally but not really my thing. I did miss an oven very much. The other thing was that you have to come out of the main cottage door and go outside, through the covered patio to another exterior door to get to bedrooms and bathroom. Ok for adults and older children but if mine had been little I would not feel comfortable leaving them in bed while I went back to the main living/cooking area in the evening. You could lock them in, but I don't like that either. The burner worked well but the logs that Josep delivered after a couple of days were too large and burned/smouldered slowly and didn't really heat the room very well. I had to have the cooker rings on as well to keep warm. There was plenty of power and hot water. Josep is easy to contact and came out when we needed anything, eg, logs and a light bulb.
The drive is about 0.5km long from the road but mud track of course. If wet, it could be difficult although it is flat. Some of the plants, eg, the prickly gorse should have been cut back a little more, I tried to do this with no tools.
I know the area well having lived on my own finca nearby for some years and it is fabulous. We visited Rasquera, Gandesa, Caves at Benifallet, Fontcalda, Miravet, Horta de St Joan, Bot, Miami Platja, Tortosa, L'Ametllar de Mar and more. Had a perfect time.
